Responsibilities & Context:
To plan, coordinate and evaluate teaching methods and the curriculum.
To provide conditions for teachers in the English department to provide the best educational experience for the students.
To oversee the development of a progressive and challenging curriculum.
To ensure that the curriculum is monitored in terms of learning outcomes so that learners make good progress in line with expectations.
To motivate and work with others to create and develop a positive, collaborative learning culture.
To organize and run events to promote reading, writing and speaking to the whole school community.
To effectively distribute tasks throughout the faculty ensuring and monitoring their successful completion.
To inspire learners through well designed and creative lessons that enable all students to access the English curriculum and make significant progress.
To monitor, assess and record the progress and attainment of all students, providing effective formative feedback, so that all have opportunities to develop.
To create and maintain a stimulating learning environment, including but not limited to creative classroom displays and appropriate resources.
To care for our students and ensure a safe, tolerant and compassionate environment for all.
To communicate effectively with parents on the progress, attainment and overall development of the students in your care, through written reports and parent/teacher consultation times.
To take a full and active role in the extensive extra-curricular or outdoor learning program.
To evaluate and analyze a range of summative and formative assessment data to identify and implement strategies to support all learners.
To identify and or provide appropriate training, through coaching and mentoring, for individuals to meet their professional development goals.
To take a leading role in ensuring the schools health and safety policies and procedures are carried out effectively.
