∎ Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated practical experience in planning and executing awareness campaigns, creating innovative content and materials, and possess extensive expertise in designing and facilitating interactive learning sessions, engaging stakeholders through meetings, workshops, and capacity-building training sessions.
∎ Strong written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to write required documents in a clear, concise, well-organized manner.
∎ Proven ability to write comfortably (both in English and Bangla) in a range of styles for different audiences including press, policymakers, corporations, technical experts, funders, and the general public. Proven impeccable editing skills.
∎ Proven ability to manage publications from conceptualization to completion.
∎ Ability to communicate, negotiate, advise, persuade, or resolve issues that are highly complex and sensitive in nature.
∎ Knowledge of international development theory, practices, and issues. Advanced knowledge of communications and media for international development programs.
∎ Demonstrated ability to organize and lead the work of others in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressures.

∎ The Bangladesh Climate Smart Livestock (BCSL) project, funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and implemented by ACDI/VOCA, is a five-year initiative spanning from October 2023 to September 2028. It aims to enhance the resilience and productivity of Bangladesh's livestock sector amidst climatic adversities.
∎ The project adopts a climate-smart market systems development approach to improve access to knowledge, services, and markets for small-holder farmers. It emphasizes the adoption of cost-effective climate-smart agriculture technologies and practices, targeting improvements in farm productivity, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and supporting government climate goals. This initiative builds on ACDI/VOCA's extensive experience and strong relationships within Bangladesh's livestock sector.
∎ Pursuant to its mission, ACDI/VOCA is seeking experienced and talented professionals for the Communications Manager position.
∎ Project name: Bangladesh Climate Smart Livestock project
∎ Reports to: MEL & CLA Director
∎ The Communications Manager develops and leads all communications strategies and activities. The position will support MEL & CLA Director. This position oversees the quality and frequency of all program messaging to the donor, relevant to government entities, private sector partners, beneficiaries, media, and other key audiences. The Communication Manager is also responsible for all social media communications pertaining to project activities and images as well as implementing the Collaboration, Learning, and Adapting (CLA) strategy and action plans. This encompasses oversight of the program's messaging quality and frequency to ensure alignment with the project goals and objectives.
∎ ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
∎ 1. Develops and leads communications strategies and activities.
∎ Manages and develops appropriate positioning, messaging, and dissemination strategies for the project.
∎ Ensures compliance with communications policies and standards set by USDA, ACDI/VOCA and the host government.
∎ Ensures compliance with branding and marking requirements for all offices, events, and internal and external communications and learning materials.
∎ Oversees the quality and frequency of all program messaging to the donor, relevant government entities, partners, beneficiaries, media, and other key audiences.
∎ Facilitates information sharing and access within the project and within country. Supports the management and development of knowledge and information management systems.
∎ Builds communications strategies into various project components and captures and relays relevant information to stakeholders.
∎ Coordinates internal and external communications to create a cohesive and coherent ACDI/VOCA presence with employees and partners.
∎ Develops processes and systems for crisis communications, assuming lead role in a crisis communications event, if required.
∎ Ensures that all preparatory information for field visits or official (public) events involving staff members meets quality standards and time requirements.
∎ 2. Executes promotional materials, communications and learning deliverables and related activities and products.
∎ Supports technical staff in the collection and writing of success stories, lessons learned, case studies and other learning communications.
∎ Prepare the updates and successes of the project to share with donor, and stakeholders. Supports and/or leads the organization of project-sponsored donors.
∎ Helps prepare and coordinate annual performance reports for the donor organization.
∎ Develops and updates information for the project website.
∎ 3. Designs and implements the MEL Activity’s Collaboration, Learning, and Adapting (CLA)
∎ Develops and reviews CLA action plan with stakeholders, incorporating learning agendas, questions, implementation methods and timelines for activity implementation.
∎ Designs and facilitates effective learning events and plans successful stakeholder engagement efforts and shares lessons for adaptive management.
∎ Implements and integrates robust CLA practices within all MEL activities, ensuring a cohesive approach that enhances both areas mutually.
∎ 4. Represents ACDI/VOCA to government, media, partners, donors, beneficiaries, and other aid agencies. Prepares for crises and takes a lead role in crisis communications. Serves as principal contact for local and international press and media, coordinating with project management, headquarters, and donor as required.
∎ 5. Performs other duties and undertakes other projects as may be assigned from time to time.
