Educational Requirements:
∎ Minimum Master's in relevant field. Additional degree/training in the relevant area will be preferred.

Job Context:
∎ The purpose of this film is to entertain whilst at the same time increasing understanding and awareness of some of the issues surrounding cerebral palsy in Bangladesh and addressing the stigma from which those affected so often suffer.
∎ The film has been created with the aim of appealing to a broad audience and will be distributed on popular television channels. It is planned to have a duration of approximately 110-120 minutes.
∎ Elspeth Waldie, an expert in creating socially impactful dramas, has written the script in English for this film. Her films, with a focus on addressing disability-related issues, have won international recognition, including one produced in Bangladesh. Her Kenyan film "The Unknown" received the 2017 World Cerebral Palsy Day Awareness Award. Elspeth is the founder of Purple Field Productions, an NGO and production company, and has been working with CRP since 1998, regularly visiting Bangladesh to support their efforts.
∎ We are currently seeking a Bangladeshi translator to collaborate with Elspeth on creating a Bangla version of the script. Our aim is not only to translate the script but also to add a unique Bangladeshi flavor to it.
∎ The ideal candidate should be an experienced writer who has already produced and screened work, with a preference given to those who have written scripts that aim to create social change or address social issues.
∎ Method of working
∎ Although Elspeth has spent a considerable amount of time in Bangladesh in the past, it will not, unfortunately, be possible for her to travel out this time. Much of your work will therefore be carried out by email, and on zoom, and easy access to the internet is an essential requirement for the job. Work will initially involve discussions with Elspeth in English, but the main part of your role will then be to translate the whole script into Bangla working on professional screenwriting software “Fade In”

Job Responsibilities:
∎ To advise on cultural and other issues in order to give the script credibility and a Bangladeshi identity.
∎ To add a touch of Bangladeshi humour,
∎ To translate the whole 110 -120 page script into Bangla taking particular trouble over the dialogue – ensuring that this is varied according to the speaker and appropriate to each character

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 30 to 45 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ ESSENTIAL
∎ Experience in film script writing and/or script translation
∎ Fluent in both written and spoken English and Bangla
∎ Confident in working on professional screenwriting software – able to adapt to using “Fade In”-
∎ Confident in word processing
∎ Easy access to internet and able to use either Facetime or Facebook messenger for discussions
∎ DESIRABLE
∎ Especial skill in dialogue writing
∎ Proven skill in providing a touch of humour
∎ Special interest in/experience in working on films for social change plus concern for disability issues
∎ Person with disability are encouraged to apply
