Job Responsibilities:
∎ Under the overall guidance of the Country Lead- ASCEND, the Surveillance Medical Officer (SMO) will be responsible for the implementation of the project activities of Lymphatic Filariasis Elimination program in a designated geographical area.
∎ She/he will ensure will be responsible for roll out of project activities, monitoring the progress of project activities and resolve field level concerns.
∎ The incumbent will be required to have up-to-date situation report for his designated geographical area (region) for the LF elimination programs.
∎ The incumbent will work in close collaboration with the Program Managers for LF Elimination at programs (Regional, District and Sub-district level), ASCEND Project Staff and partners.
∎ The Surveillance Medical Officer will have the following duties and responsibilities:
∎ The SMO will ensure the planning and implementation of MMDP services and provisioning of hydrocele surgeries in her/his designated geographical area.
∎ The SMO will ensure weekly MMDP care at the Community Clinics and referral to different levels through the IPs and the health care service
∎ Strengthen existing surveillance tools and processes for LF elimination programs in consultation with Government counterparts and ASCEND team members.
∎ Capacity building of the frontline workers.
∎ Support government and implementing partners in mapping chronic LF patients .
∎ Develop and disseminate epidemiological situation update for LF elimination programs at regular intervals.
∎ Undertake field visit to the high priority areas and share the monitoring feedback with the program managers.
∎ Contribute to the development of the APP's for LF programs.
∎ Contribute to the development of guidance documents being developed by the National Program for LF in the country.
∎ Participate in the reviews and planning meetings / workshops at the regional, district and sub-district level.
∎ Assist the CL- ASCEND in the preparation of reports.
∎ Any other task assigned by the line supervisor/s.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 30 to 50 years
∎ At least 5 years of work experience in implemntation role in a large scale public health programme.
∎ Proven experience of providing support to the government disease surveillance programs.
∎ Experience of working with WHO/UNICEF or other INGO's desirable.
∎ Problem solving abilities and a go getter.
∎ Skilled in supporting staff with a varied level of knowledge and capacities.
∎ Ability to balance competing priorities, work independently to efficiently meet deadlines
∎ Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written communication).
∎ Ability to network with people.
