Educational Requirements:
∎ Medical Graduate with post graduate degree in epidemiology.

Experience Requirements:
∎ At least 5 year(s)

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Under the overall guidance of the Country Lead- ASCEND the Epidemiologist will be responsible for the analysis of epidemiological data for VL and LF elimination programs.
∎ She/he will ensure availability of high quality and accurate epidemiological data for VL and LF programs.
∎ The incumbent will support the National Program managers in the epidemiological assessment of the VL outbreaks. He will design tools for epidemiological assessment (VL and LF) in consultation with National Program Manager, Country Lead- ASCEND and Regional ASCEND team.
∎ S/he will support the strengthening of the existing surveillance systems for VL and LF programs.
∎ The Epidemiologist will ensure participation and representation of ASCEND in program review meetings and development of guidance documents.
∎ The incumbent will work in close collaboration with the National Program Managers for VL and LF Elimination programs of Bangladesh, ASCEND Project Staff and partners.
∎ Strengthen existing surveillance tools and processes for VL and LF elimination programs in consultation with Government counterparts and ASCEND team members.
∎ Support government in investigation of VL outbreaks.
∎ Develop and disseminate epidemiological situation update for VL and LF elimination programs at regular intervals.
∎ Undertake field visit to the high priority areas and share the monitoring feedback with the program managers.
∎ Contribute to the development of the APP's for VL and LF programs.
∎ Contribute to the development of guidance documents being developed by the National Program for VL and LF in the country.
∎ Participate in the reviews and planning meetings / workshops.
∎ Assist the CL- ASCEND in the preparation of reports.
∎ Any other task assigned by the line supervisor/s.


Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 30 to 50 years
∎ At least 5 years of work experience in large scale public health programme.
∎ Proven experience of providing support to the government disease surveillance programs.
∎ Experience of working with WHO/UNICEF or other INGO's is preferable.
∎ Excellent analytical skills and the ability to summarize and present epidemiological data in a clear and concise manner
∎ Skilled in supporting staff with a varied level of knowledge and capacities.
∎ Ability to balance competing priorities, work independently to efficiently meet deadlines
∎ Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written communication).
∎ Ability to network with people and advocacy.

Salary:
∎ Negotiable as per organization policy.
