Responsibilities & Context:
  • Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients in the ICU, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and assessing patient conditions.

  • Perform nursing procedures like inserting IV lines, catheters, and administering oxygen therapy.

  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.

  • Continuously monitor patients` vital signs, pain levels, and overall condition, ensuring timely identification and response to changes in their health status.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories, treatment plans, and progress notes.

  • Administer medications, including IV drips, injections, and oral medications, as prescribed by the physician, ensuring accurate dosages and monitoring for side effects.

  • Infection Control: Follow strict infection control protocols to prevent cross-contamination and hospital-acquired infections. Maintain a clean and sterile environment within the ICU.

  • Provide emotional and informational support to patients and their families, explaining treatments and conditions, addressing concerns, and ensuring comfort. Educate families on post-discharge care and recovery processes.

  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with ICU doctors, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare staff to provide comprehensive patient care. Participate in regular team meetings and handovers to ensure smooth continuity of care.

  • Emergency Response: Act quickly and effectively in emergency situations such as cardiac arrest, sepsis, or respiratory failure. Administer life-saving treatments, perform CPR, and use ICU equipment like defibrillators and ventilators.

  • Equipment Management: Operate and maintain advanced ICU medical equipment, including ventilators, monitors, infusion pumps, and dialysis machines. Ensure regular checks and troubleshooting of equipment to ensure optimal performance.
