  • Profound knowledge of land as a practicing lawyer and also as a corporate lawyer.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a practicing lawyer, with substantial experience in land management, land-related legal matters, and property law.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the legal team in identifying and mitigating legal and operational risks related to BRAC Estate and keep management informed of significant legal risks, case developments, and recommended actions to support timely decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable land laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Lead the resolution of land-related disputes and litigation through court proceedings and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), safeguarding BRAC’s interests.
  • Maintain effective liaison with panel lawyers, High Court/Supreme Court advocates, judiciary, government offices, and regulatory authorities.
  • Review and vet legal documents, including plaints, written statements, petitions, case reports, and other legal submissions, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
  • Supervise land vetting, ownership verification, and legality checks, and provide clear legal opinions on land transactions.
  • Provide legal guidance on mutation, land records, and related documentation while ensuring accurate and updated case data in ERP/land management systems.
  • Proactively identify risks of encroachment and unlawful claims and initiate appropriate legal measures to protect BRAC land assets.

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
