Experience:
LL.B. and LL.M. from a recognized university will be preferred.
Must be an Advocate enrolled with the Bangladesh Bar Council, where court practice/representation is required.
Membership of a recognized Bar Association is preferred.
Additional professional qualifications in corporate law, insurance law, compliance, or corporate governance will be an advantage.
Minimum 5–8 years of relevant professional experience in legal practice, preferably with a reputed insurance company, financial institution, bank, corporate organization, or law firm.
Candidates with substantial experience in insurance law, corporate law, civil litigation, commercial disputes, and regulatory matters will receive preference.
Experience in dealing with insurance-related regulatory and legal matters in Bangladesh will be an added advantage.
Strong knowledge of Bangladeshi corporate, commercial, civil, and insurance-related laws and regulations.
Excellent legal drafting and documentation skills.
Strong litigation-management and negotiation skills.
Ability to interpret complex laws, contracts, rules, and regulatory directives.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Bangla and English.
Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
High degree of integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
Ability to work independently as well as coordinate effectively with management and external legal professionals.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research/document-management tools.
A reputed and professionally managed Life Insurance Company in Bangladesh is inviting applications from qualified, experienced, and dedicated legal professionals for the position of Full-Time Lawyer / Legal Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice, managing litigation and legal documentation, ensuring regulatory compliance, reviewing agreements, and protecting the company's legal interests.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide legal advice and opinions to the Board, Managing Director/CEO, senior management, and various departments.
Handle and monitor all litigation, arbitration, legal notices, claims-related disputes, and court matters involving the company.
Represent or coordinate representation of the company before courts, tribunals, regulatory authorities, and other legal forums, where applicable.
Draft, review, and vet contracts, agreements, deeds, notices, legal opinions, powers of attorney, and other legal documents.
Advise management on matters relating to insurance policies, claims, premium recovery, commissions, reinsurance, investments, employment, taxation, and corporate affairs.
Ensure that the company's business activities comply with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and regulatory requirements.
Monitor relevant changes in laws, regulations, court decisions, and regulatory directives affecting the life insurance business.
Coordinate with external lawyers, law firms, advocates, courts, and government authorities.
Review policy documents, customer agreements, vendor contracts, lease agreements, employment contracts, and other corporate documents.
Assist in resolving customer complaints and disputes from a legal perspective.
Prepare legal notices, replies, pleadings, petitions, affidavits, and other necessary legal documents.
Maintain an updated database and records of all litigation, legal cases, agreements, notices, and legal correspondence.
Conduct legal due diligence whenever required.
Support the company's corporate governance and compliance functions.
Identify potential legal risks and recommend appropriate risk-mitigation measures.
Provide legal support for recovery of outstanding amounts and protection of company assets.
Perform any other legal responsibilities assigned by management
