• Verifies patient identification and explains sampling procedures to patients.

• Facilitate the collection, processing, handling, and shipping of urine and fluid specimens.

• Preparing specimens for laboratory testing and performing screening procedures.

• Obtains blood specimens by proper procedure.

• Maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique and following department procedures.

• Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.

• Maintains an organized and clean workspace.

• Follow policies and procedures to help correctly identify the patient’s specimen through accurate barcode.        

• Follow policies and procedures to properly package and ship specimens to the lab.

• Pick up, package, and ship specimens when needed.
