Education:

∎ At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a pathological laboratory in a healthcare facility/NGO is preferred.
∎ Previous experience of working in NGO preferably in a hard to reach area.
∎ Good interpersonal communication skills.
∎ Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
∎ Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
∎ Ability to prepare and process laboratory samples using established protocols.
∎ Ability to monitor and/or maintain quality control standards.
∎ Good communication skill and basic computer skill.
∎ Ability to work under pressure in a hard to reach area.

Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Ensure care & maintenance of all the lab instruments & equipment.
∎ Carrying out regular & emergency lab procedures.
∎ Ensure availability of all related reagents & logistics of the laboratory, ensure proper storage and usage of equipment & consumables.
∎ Review stock & initiate requisition for laboratory activities.
∎ Documentation of all lab activities.
∎ Keep service records and prepare monthly report.
∎ Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols.
∎ Attend all training and ensure knowledge dissemination to assistant.
∎ Ensuring collection, processing, and handling of all biological specimens according to IPCD.
∎ Counsel the patients on the sample collection process.
∎ Conducts blood tests for transfusion purposes; may draw blood from patient's finger, ear lobe, or vein observing principles of asepsis to obtain blood samples.
∎ Conducting and supporting scientific investigations and experiments.
∎ Performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests in the areas of hematology, microbiology, immunology, clinical chemistry, and urinalysis, as assigned; conducts quantitative and qualitative chemical analyses of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid; performs blood counts using microscope.
∎ Develops and maintains cell/tissue cultures for testing purposes, as appropriate; isolates and identifies specimens, using advanced laboratory techniques.
∎ Performs quality control on test results, ensuring validity and accuracy.
∎ Performs calibration and troubleshooting on testing systems and instruments to ensure adherence to established standards of accuracy.
∎ Keeps records and reports on results according to established procedures.
∎ Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
∎ Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
∎ Planning, setting up, and undertaking controlled experiments and trials.
∎ Recording and analyzing data, and demonstrating procedures. Collecting, preparing, and/or testing samples.
∎ Maintaining, calibrating, cleaning, and testing the sterility of the equipment.
∎ Providing technical support and presenting results to senior staff.
∎ Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments.
∎ Supervising staff, carrying out risk assessments, ordering and maintaining stock and resources.
