∎ Diploma in Pathology Medical Laboratory / Diploma in Laboratory Technology under the state medical faculty of Bangladesh.
∎ Professional degree / Certification:
∎ Medical degree in laboratory medicine

Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Making up chemical solutions.
∎ Performing laboratory testing according to doctors advice.
∎ Sorting blood and tissue samples.
∎ Carefully removing chemical and biological waste.
∎ Labelling tubes and bottles.
∎ Looking after equipment stocks and ordering replacements when needed.
∎ Cleaning and sterilizing equipment.
∎ Identification and preparation of all samples.
∎ Ensuring that all procedures are documented and updated as required.
∎ Oversees specimen collection activities.
∎ Oversees specimen referral activities.
∎ Oversees laboratory requisition preparation for outpatients.
∎ Maintaining optimum temperature for lab reagents.
∎ Reports to work as scheduled.
∎ Reporting to supervisor.
∎ Develop and maintain effective working relationships with local communities, local government agencies and other implementing partners.
∎ Handling Infectious samples.
∎ Adhere to infection control and prevention guidelines.
∎ Correct specimen collection correct labeling.
∎ Program Brief:
∎ Since August 25, 2017 more than 671,000 people have escaped from Myanmar into Cox Bazar, Bangladesh. As Monsoon rains being in March, the population in the refugee camps are at a high risk of floods and landslides. More than 102,00 refugees are at risk of being directly impacted by these natural disasters. Along with monsoon rains, tropical cyclones are prone to this area from March to October, which could bring catastrophic damage and loss of life to both host and refugee populations due to lack of properly constructed shelters. Along with the risk and vulnerability of the refugee and host population, IRC is supporting Primary Health Care Center dedicated to health services to the population.
∎ Purpose of this role:
∎ The Lab assistant is a member of the IRC health team and will be responsible for management and performing lab services, making up chemical solutions, labelling specimens, cleaning and sterilizing equipment, contributing in procurement plan and sending time to time requisition.
∎ Major Responsibilities:
∎ Making up chemical solutions.
