∎ Role Summary: The General Manager, Engineering of Railway Business division will be responsible for overall diversified project management in the field of Bangladesh Govt`s railway projects. The process starts from scoping/ sourcing of business development opportunities, participating in bidding & tender submission, acquiring contracts, relevant business development strategies, relationship & networking with stakeholders both private & governments as well as execution of projects with material & people management, asset & inventory management, procurement, budget/ growth planning & timely completion/ delivery of projects.
∎ This position will report to CEO, Engineering of the organization. One of the critical requirements of the position is to handle diversified engineering business opportunities in Railway sector therefore interacting and leading large engineering team of different background working for various projects.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Initiate Business development strategies, prepare & coordinate action plans to achieve business targets by discovering new business opportunities In Railway sector.
∎ Liaison with Government & private organizations, monitor, review & report on all business development activities to assess the business opportunities that organization can explore.
∎ Work with procurement and engineering team leaders to acquire cost estimation of projects, preparation of tenders & bidding, contract acquiring & present the overall cost, revenue & profitability budget.
∎ Lead & direct due diligence efforts with internal team, local jurisdictions, external consultants and supervise the contractors to ensure that all work activities are on schedule and within budget.
∎ Plan, direct and lead activities of all construction projects to ensure that goals, objectives and all elements are accomplished within the prescribed time frame, quality and funding parameters.
∎ Monitor & control projects in respect to cost, resource deployment, time over-runs and quality compliance to ensure satisfactory execution of projects.
∎ Manage each project by following the compliance requirements of Government and have through understanding of any risk factor involved in the projects.
∎ Periodically and on special occasions, review projects with the execution team and revise profitability forecast and schedule.
∎ Meet with clients, stakeholders and project managers to report on project progress.
∎ Assess the profitability by preparing effective budget of proposed business/contracts and adopt risk mitigation measures.
Additional Requirements:
∎ 10 to 12 year(s) relevant work experience in leading local organizations is required for this position. Retd. Government officials in railway sector will also get preference for this position.
∎ Candidates who have experience to work in Govt. construction projects/ Railway sector will get preference.
∎ Candidates who have experience as Project Director (PD) to lead & manage a large project will get preference.
∎ Should be outgoing and able to maintain strong networking for generating opportunities.
∎ Should be skilled & innovative in project management and business development.
∎ Should be analytical & target orientated.
∎ Excellent leadership skill is required for the position.
∎ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
