Job Responsibilities:
∎ Accountabilities:
∎ Checking daily, the technical conditions of the assigned vehicle (state of the tires, oil, fuel, brakes, radio equipment, spare parts, etc.), performing weekly check according to the MSF Logbook, refilling it when necessary, and keeping it clean to ensure it can be driven in perfect conditions. Carrying out a hand over if another uses the vehicle;
∎ Ensuring the security of passengers in the vehicle, driving carefully, observing speed limits and traffic rules in the country as well as MSF security rules, in order to avoid car accidents;
∎ Ensuring all passengers have all necessary papers in order before travelling, and ensuring non MSF staff sign disclaimers of responsibility before using the vehicle
∎ Ensuring correct loading and unloading of the vehicle, submitting the documents to the receiver of the goods, checking the status of delivered goods, returning the duly completed documents to Logistics and ensuring that the goods have the necessary documents;
∎ Ensuring that all vehicle documents and the driver's driving license are valid and in the vehicle;
∎ Informing the line manager of any incident involving the transportation of passengers and/or goods;
∎ Knowing how to use all types of radios, codes, call numbers and radio alphabets by heart and communicating with base according to MSF communications policy to inform the driver's position and any potential implications;
∎ Knowing and respecting the security rules related to vehicle movements, specifically those related to customs, checkpoints and roadblocks. Ensuring all passengers know and respect the security rules;
∎ MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities:
∎ Ensuring that all passengers are following MSF safety protocols, Seat belts should be always fastened while driving;
∎ To check that number of passengers does not exceed the number of seatbelts in the vehicle;
∎ Check road license and other certificates in his vehicle and notify Supervisor in time for renewal of the documents if due to expire;
∎ To update the logbook: recording mileage, fuel receipts, servicing, repairs, accidents, and other incidents;
∎ Immediately report to the supervisor for any technical failure or need for maintenance of the vehicle;
∎ Responsible for daily vehicle check, which include (fuel level, engine oil, coolant level, brake and clutch fluids, windscreen washer fluid, radiator grill is clean, tyre condition, any possible leaks and radio equipment);
∎ Adjusting the vehicle speed to the road conditions and to drive with consideration for the safety of the passengers, other road users, the load and the technical state of the car;
∎ To strictly observe the 25km/h speed limit within the project area;
∎ Ensures the safe parking, supervision of the vehicle and its cargo at any time;
∎ Responsible to share relevant security information with the supervisor or international team (PC and/or Logistics Manager);
∎ Responsible for performing weekly vehicle check according to the MSF Logbook;
∎ Responsible for correct loading and unloading the vehicle;
∎ Accident, damage or any mechanical defect on the vehicle should be reported to supervisor immediately;
∎ Always checks the daily and or weekly planning of his car and makes sure that the car is ready for departure on time;
∎ Is responsible for the number and condition of tools and the spare parts, like spare tyre, High-lift jack listed on the car logbook;
∎ To secure and guard the vehicle and cargo while on duty;
∎ Perform any additional task as per the instruction of the supervisors;
∎ Translate short messages as & when necessary;
∎ Not allowed:
∎ Driving after drinking alcohol;
∎ Carrying non MSF passengers without authorization;
∎ Carrying armed passengers or anybody dressed in a military uniform;
∎ Transporting private goods without authorization;
∎ Transporting commercial goods;
∎ Smoking is not allowed in the car;
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 18 years
∎ Essential 2 years minimum of previous driving experience;
∎ Desirable experience with specific vehicles to use (4x4, boats, motorbikes,etc.);
∎ Desirable in MSF or other NGOs;
∎ Desirable ambulance driving experience.
Salary:
∎ Salary according to level 3 of the internal MSF salary grid, (BDT 37020 - 44424 Gross) at step ‘0-10’.
Compensation & Other Benefits:
∎ Contract duration to be determined . 2 annual leave days per month worked. Medical reimbursement for employee and direct dependents.
