Key Responsibilities (Assistant Professor-Medicine):

• Clinical Care:
  • Treat patients in outpatient clinics, wards, and ICUs.
  • Perform medical procedures and handle emergencies.
  • Ensure proper clinical documentation and compliance with hospital policies.
• Education & Teaching:
  • Deliver lectures, seminars, and workshops to undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.
  • Conduct bedside clinics and supervise trainees' clinical work.
  • Develop curriculum, create assignments, and evaluate student progress.
• Research & Scholarly Activity:
  • Conduct original research and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Apply for research grants and manage research funding.
  • Present research findings at professional conferences.
• Service & Mentorship:
  • Mentor students and residents regarding academic and professional development.
  • Participate in departmental, institutional, and university committees.
  • Attend faculty meetings and contribute to policy development. 
• Assistant Professors of Medicine must possess strong clinical knowledge, teaching ability, and a commitment to advancing medical education and patient care

Key Responsibilities (Assistant Professor-Surgery):

• Surgical Practice: Perform elective and emergency surgeries (e.g., laparotomies, appendectomies, hernia repairs) as the primary surgeon or supervisor.
• Patient Care: Provide comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative management, including wound care and monitoring for complications.
• On-Call Coverage: Participate in rotation schedules to provide emergency surgical consultations and procedures.
• Outpatient Services: Conduct clinics for new patient consultations and follow-up care for post-surgical patients. 

Educational & Teaching Duties

• Trainee Supervision: Mentor and supervise surgical residents, fellows, and medical students during clinical rotations and in the operating room.
• Didactic Instruction: Deliver lectures, lead seminars, and facilitate journal clubs or case discussions.
• Curriculum Development: Assist in designing teaching programs, undergraduate medical education courses, and assessment tools like practical exams.
• Surgical Training: Conduct bedside teaching, surgical demonstrations, and practical training in sterile techniques and anatomy. 

Research & Scholarly Activity

• Scientific Inquiry: Design and lead research projects focusing on surgical techniques, patient outcomes, or innovations in minimally invasive surgery.
• Publication: Author and publish research findings in peer-reviewed medical journals and present data at national or international conferences.
• Grant Funding: Proactively seek and apply for external research grants or fellowships to support academic programs. 

Administrative & Professional Service

• Committees: Participate in institutional and departmental committees, such as residency recruitment, quality improvement, and surgical selection boards.
• Compliance & Documentation: Ensure accurate clinical documentation and billing in compliance with hospital policies and healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
• Continuous Learning: Maintain board certification and stay updated with advancements in surgical technology through Continuing Medical Education (CME).
