∎ Brief Description of SEEP:
∎ In 1985, a group of social workers established a private voluntary development organization to improve the condition of socially disadvantaged children in Bangladesh. The organization was named as Social and Economic Enhancement Programme-SEEP. Initially the organization was involved in charitable work like running feeding centers or distributing clothes for the needy and malnourished children in times of disaster such as drought, floods or cold weather. In 1995, SEEP started to work with children in a slum in section 6 in Mirpur, Dhaka. Almost simultaneously, it started working with the hard-core child laborers at ward 5 who were involved in handlooms and embroidery work. Gradually SEEP`s activities continue to increase.

∎ Mission of the organization:
∎ SEEP works for the empowerment and participation of disadvantaged and victim children in Bangladesh (both boys and girls, including children with different abilities), and their parents and community, so that they can protect and promote child rights.
∎ SEEP also works in collaboration with like-minded groups and organizations towards the enactment and reformation of policy and laws, and their proper implementation at local and national level, in order to ensure the rights of children on the basis of UNCRC.
∎ Legal Status: Social and Economic Enhancement Program (SEEP) is a Child Rights Based Organization established in 1986. SEEP is registered under Voluntary Social Welfare Organization Act 1961. The registration No. is Pab-149 (278)/86, dated - 23rd July 1986. SEEP is also registered under Foreign Donation Registration Ordinance 1978 (amended in 1982). Registration No. is 993, dated: 7th December 1995 which has been renewed on 3rd July 2001; 28th May 2007 & lastly on 06th January 2011 with effect from 07th December 2010. It is also registered with Micro credit Regulatory Authority (MRA), the registration number of which is 00014-00052-00044, dated 05 September 2007.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ With the financial support of Irish Aid and technical support of Concern Worldwide, SEEP is implementing a Project titled 'Improving the Lives of Urban Extreme Poor (ILUEP) Programme at Mirpur and Gabtoli, Dhaka and intends to employ a WASH & Nutrition Officer in this Project.
∎ Job Responsibilities
∎ To organize meeting with the Community People
∎ To up-date profile of selected project participants
∎ Develop & keep on list of project participants
∎ Organize and facilitate nutrition, WASH Management training
∎ To formation of Group/Batch for Training
∎ To establish partnership with WASA and explore feasible water & sanitation solutions
∎ To establish process approach to plan and organize with slum dwellers development committee to create pressure & demand connections; connect WASA with establish WASH committees
∎ To advocacy to legalize illegal water connections; assess number of illegal connections and share findings with WASA zonal officer, ward counselor, WDC/WHC etc. to seek resolution
∎ To engage all stakeholders on improve sanitation in slums and explore options for urban sanitation with water aid & leverage space for communal latrines;
∎ To continue PDC partners stay center-based WASH services for existing and new pavement dwellers; resolve current issues in existing rented PDCs
∎ To work with influential local leaders (political, traditional, religious, community leaders) to influence change in hygiene and practice of target group
∎ To re-activate WHCs to provide health care & nutrition agenda services: orientation roles & action plan to address nutrition problem in their ward
∎ To establish mother support self-help group to run community-based day care centers operating as community nutrition hubs;
∎ To support SHG members trained on nutrition, diet and food preparation with participatory cooking sessions
∎ To support complete birth registration for project participants
∎ To Mapping health and nutrition services in each ward and disseminate findings
∎ To organize meeting with zonal officers/slum development units/ward counselors' office of the city corporation and WASA
∎ Support to develop advocacy strategy with local government to ensure WASA rights as stipulated in national policy and guideline
∎ To organize joint visit to target communities with local authorities for identification of WASH challenge and discussions with residents
∎ To attend WASH platforms for raising issues and advocate for WASH service provision
∎ To provide coaching to support re-investment of savings into productive activities; and food choices that promote good health and nutrition
∎ To communicate with the service providers
∎ To undertake routine field visit as well as follow up the beneficiaries at the spots as and when necessary.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at most 35 years
∎ Minimum 02 years of working experience on nutrition, WASH issues.
∎ The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):
∎ NGO
∎ For Graduates, minimum 03 year's working experience
∎ Ability to work with government and development partners.
∎ Ability to work independently in a team and the community.
∎ Adequate knowledge in social & URBAN structures of Bangladesh.
∎ Strong motivational skills.
∎ Strong interpersonal and communication skill.
