Job Context:
∎ Caritas Bangladesh (CB) is a national and non-profit development organization operating in Bangladesh since 1967. It has its Central Office in Dhaka and eight Regional Offices in Barishal, Chattogram, Dhaka, Dinajpur, Khulna, Mymensingh, Rajshahi and Sylhet. CB is implementing 87 on-going projects covering 209 upazila focusing on six main priorities i.e i) Social Welfare and Community Development, ii) Quality Education, iii) Health Care and Education, iv) Disaster Management, v) Ecological Conservation and Development and vi) Development of Indigenous Peoples.
∎ Caritas Bangladesh (CB) is looking for suitable candidates (men and women) for immediate appointment as well as to prepare panel list for USAID/OFDA supported SOKKHOMOTA (Collaborate, Prepare and Resilient to Natural and Human Induced disasters) project in Ukhiya upazila of Cox`s Bazar District under Caritas Chattogram Region. This is a 24 months Project which aim is to help the communities within Cox`s Bazar district become less vulnerable to the loss and damage of natural and human induced hazards/shocks.
∎ The details of the positions including job responsibilities, educational qualification and other qualities/competency required for the above positions are given below for your information:
∎ Job Location: Ukhiya, Cox`s Bazar, Bangladesh.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Upazila Coordinator is the leader of the Upazila project team. S/he will be responsible for coordination, implementation, monitoring and supervision of all activities in Ukhiya Upazila of Cox's Bazar District.
∎ Work under direct supervision of the Project Manager based at district/ Regional level.
∎ Liaise closely with the sector specific Managers of Caritas & other partners for smooth implementation of the project.
∎ Lead project implementation of project activities as per pre-decided action plan at Upazila level.
∎ To supervise Upazila Accounts Officer, M&E Officer, Upazila Accounts officer and Community Organizer.
∎ Prepare monthly plan for upazila level based on Detailed Implementation Plan prepared at the district level.
∎ Organize & facilitate monthly staff meeting in Upazila level. Ensure reflection sessions are held in these meetings to review the progress and impact of the project.
∎ Arrange and facilitate various training for local disaster management committee & community level groups.
∎ Attend different meetings held in project office and represent your Upazila.
∎ Supervise financial and administrative affairs at the Upazila level.
∎ Update the staff data base with personal information, leave days and/or others.
∎ Appraise/evaluate the performance of staff annually. Raise the HR issues with project manager.
∎ Make linkages with relevant government departments for continued technical support, inputs, and maintenance. Simultaneously, the project will increase awareness among local communities about relevant government schemes for which they are eligible and how to access such schemes.
∎ S/H will establish a strong partnership with the BDRCS for strengthen and use their volunteer networks/structures, such as CDRTs at the ward level and RCYs at the upazila level, in the RRAP process, as well as in preparedness and response roles.
∎ Liaise with local DM structures like UDMC, WDMC, UzDMC, local administration, people's representatives, and elite persons at the Union and Upazila to seek their support and update them about the progress of the project.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at most 45 years
∎ At least 4 years' work experience in reputed development organizations as Upazila Coordinator/Supervisor with a particular focus on DRR in host community.
∎ Minimum 2-3 years' experience of development project coordination and implementation at Upazila level particularly in Ukhiya.
∎ At least 1-2 years' DRR and 2 years livelihood project related experience desirable.
∎ Good command both in English & Bangla.
∎ Potential knowledge on DRR activities.
∎ Knowledge on program aspect, Supervision, Monitoring & Evaluation.
∎ Computer skill both English & Bangla on MS-Office.
∎ Knowledge on Coordination, leadership, community engagement and relationship building.
∎ Knowledge and experience of working with Local Government Institutions.
∎ Good networking, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
∎ Good knowledge on diversity and sensitivity of CHT

Salary:
∎ Monthly Consolidated Salary: Taka 50,000/-
