Education:
∎ Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery(MBBS)
∎ MBBS, Masters, or Diploma in Transfusion Medicine.

∎ Age 27 to 40 years
∎ Experience: Minimum 2–5 years in transfusion medicine, preferably in a thalassemia center or blood bank.
∎ Certifications: Certification in Blood Banking & Transfusion Medicine.
∎ Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in blood bank software, Microsoft PowerPoint, Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and data analytics tools.
∎ In-depth knowledge of transfusion medicine, apheresis procedures, hemovigilance, and blood safety regulations.
∎ Strong knowledge of blood group serology and immunohematology.
∎ Familiarity with emerging technologies in transfusion medicine, apheresis, and blood bank management.
∎ Data analysis and report generation skills.
∎ Leadership, teamwork, and excellent communication skills.
∎ Ability to train and mentor medical staff.
∎ Strong knowledge of transfusion-related hematology, immunohematology, red cell disorders, and iron metabolism.

Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Manage the blood bank's daily operations, including blood donation, testing, processing, and storage of blood and its components.
∎ Manage the donor screening process, including eligibility evaluation, donation processing, and deferral criteria.
∎ Ensure the preparation of high-quality blood components, including whole blood, packed red blood cells, fresh frozen plasma, and platelet concentrates.
∎ Collaborate with phlebotomists to schedule donations, manage donor flow, and ensure the efficient collection of blood products.
∎ Monitor transfusion reactions, investigate adverse events, and implement corrective actions.
∎ Supervise compatibility testing, antibody screening, and cross-matching procedures.
∎ Plan and execute impactful blood donation campaigns in collaboration with community groups, universities, and corporate partners.
∎ Develop public education programs and presentations in various communities to raise awareness about blood donation and its life-saving impact on thalassemia patients.
∎ Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for patients requiring transfusions, including pre-transfusion assessment, post-transfusion monitoring, and management of adverse reactions. Stay abreast of advancements in hematology research and treatment methods.
∎ Supervise and perform therapeutic apheresis procedures, including red cell exchange for thalassemia patients, plasma exchange, and platelet depletion as needed.
∎ Train and oversee staff in proper apheresis techniques, machine operation, and patient care during procedures.
∎ Establish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for transfusion and blood banking.
∎ Evaluate and interpret laboratory test results, recording and reporting findings accurately.
∎ Ensure compliance with national and international transfusion guidelines.
∎ Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and quality control checks.
∎ Provide training and education to laboratory technologists, medical officers, and other healthcare professionals on blood banking procedures, protocols, and policies.
∎ Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of blood donations, transfusions, and patient responses.
∎ Implement and oversee digital blood bank management systems (e.g., LIS, HIS).Ensure data integrity, security, and confidentiality in compliance with health regulations.
∎ Generate reports on blood usage, transfusion trends, and donor demographics for strategic planning.
∎ Use data analytics to optimize transfusion strategies and improve patient outcomes.
