∎ Job Summary:
∎ The Technical Officer (GIS) (50% support to KML) is responsible to design, develop GIS based risk and resource mapping, and customize geographic information systems and provide technical and analytical support to H&C (Homes and Community) project. S/he is responsible for providing GIS support especially in relation to supporting the Early Warning System strengthening in coordination with proposed (university) partner. Produce required maps for the project showing necessary information as needed by the project team.
∎ Travel:
∎ Based in Dhaka with frequent travel throughout Bangladesh. Up to 50% travel to field offices and field.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Working with Disaster Management team at Central and field to facilitate GIS-based risks and vulnerabilities analysis;
∎ Support team to develop GIS based risk and resource mapping as part of Community Led Disaster Risk Management (CLDRM) process; Develop various layers and structures for all spatial data and coordinate with various departments to integrate digital data into platforms efficiently; Plot points from a map into the physical site boundary lines, community facilities, risk and vulnerable areas water points, roads and drainages etc.;
∎ Reversely plot the final location of the above facilities and infrastructure and feed it into the as build site plan;
∎ Support to build capacity of Union Digital Centre (UDC) to store up-to-date, accurate household records, vulnerability information and risk maps along with GIS data;
∎ Provide training to the UDC entrepreneur to manage data, strengthen MIS and provide orientation on how information can be shared with different stakeholders as per their specific need;
∎ Build the project's technical capacity in GIS web mapping and online visualization tools;
∎ Maintain and operate all GIS related products, manage all components of system database and design and ensue achievement of all phases for project and assist in planning.
∎ Plan a schedule of GIS activity implementation according to the project's Detailed Implementation Plan and ensure implementation;
∎ Provide technical assistance to staff and site beneficiaries in areas of risks, vulnerability, hazard and asset mapping;
∎ Share maps and data with CB, CRS, local government and other interested parties as required;
∎ Integrating GIS into M&E system according to CRS and CB standards;
∎ Contribute to an information management system for the tracking of project indicators in coordination with SPO-KM and the rest of the team;
∎ Contribute to reports on progress on results indicators, Milestones, Influence hypothesis and assist the In Charge of Homes and Communities Project in preparation of other reports as needed; and
∎ Analyzes monitoring and evaluation data related to project activities with M&E as needed.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum of 2-3 years' experience working on the GIS team for donor funded projects or related field having experience of updated GIS software (ArcGIS etc.).
∎ Experience in interpreting various types of maps from databases and reporting findings.
∎ Experience of facilitating training for local staff in map preparation and utilization.
∎ Strong communication skills.
∎ Ability to travel extensively to working locations and willing to stay at field.
∎ Have good knowledge on Safeguarding related policies, GBV, Child Protection policy and other relevant policy.
∎ Should be self-driven and positive to work in a team.
∎ Should have 'can do' attitude and able to handle multiple tasks managing priorities.
