PhD in Education from a reputed internationally recognized university.
Minimum twenty-five (25) years of progressively responsible leadership
experience in higher education, including senior academic leadership roles
such as Vice Rector, Provost, Vice President, Dean, Director of Quality
Assurance, Director of Research, or equivalent.
Demonstrated expertise in teaching excellence, faculty development,
curriculum design and review, syllabus standardization, instructional
design, assessment design, evaluation, academic mentoring, and
educational leadership.
Extensive experience in institutional strategy, strategic planning, research
management, quality assurance, educational leadership, policy
development, organizational development, and change management.
Proven experience in designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating
institution-wide quality assurance systems and reviewing teaching
effectiveness and learning environments.
Demonstrated experience in developing academic programmes,
curriculum frameworks, institutional policies, and quality enhancement
initiatives.
Strong record of scholarly achievement with publications in peer-reviewed
journals, conference proceedings, books, and book chapters, together
with experience organizing faculty development programmes, workshops,
seminars, or academic conferences.
Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement,
mentoring, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
High level of English language proficiency, preferably demonstrated by an
IELTS Academic score of at least 7.5 (with no individual band below 7.0), a
TOEFL iBT score of 102 or above (with no section below 25), or an
equivalent internationally recognized qualification, or other demonstrable
evidence of high level of English proficiency.
Demonstrated experience working in multiple international higher
education systems and multicultural academic environments.
Proven experience establishing international partnerships through
Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with universities, embassies,
ministries, industries, development agencies, and professional
organizations.
Proven experience designing and managing externally funded, donor-
funded, or internationally funded academic programmes, faculty
development initiatives, or capacity-building projects.
Demonstrated experience in campus planning, academic infrastructure
development, and enhancement of institutional learning environments.
Proven success in research capacity building, research management,
faculty mentoring, grant development, and fostering institutional research
excellence.
Demonstrated experience organizing, chairing, moderating, or delivering
keynote presentations at international conferences, workshops, symposia,
or academic forums.
Proven experience collaborating with UNESCO, UNDP, ministries, or
comparable international organizations on education, research, quality
assurance, or institutional development initiatives.
Professional training or executive education in Leadership of Learning,
Higher Education Leadership, Educational Leadership, or a related field
from a globally recognized institution.
Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, relationship building,
negotiation, political acumen, organizational transformation, continuous
quality improvement, and establishing or leading new academic schools,
centres, institutes, or academic programmes.
Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, innovation in higher
education, internationalization, and evidence-based teaching and learning
practices.
The Teaching and Learning Educationist in the Office of the Pro-Vice
Chancellor will provide strategic leadership in advancing curriculum
innovation, teaching and learning excellence, faculty development,
educational quality, and institutional effectiveness across the University.
Working closely with the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Deans, Heads of
Departments, faculty members, and administrative units, the incumbent
will strengthen IUB's teaching and learning ecosystem and promote
evidence-based educational practices.
Teaching Excellence and Faculty Development: Assess teaching
capabilities and design, deliver, and evaluate faculty development
programmes, mentoring, coaching, workshops, and other professional
development initiatives.
Curriculum Development and Academic Quality: Review curricula,
programme structures, learning outcomes, assessment methods, and
syllabus design to ensure alignment with international standards and best
practices.
Educational Innovation: Promote the adoption of innovative pedagogies,
educational technologies, active learning strategies, and international best
practices to enhance teaching effectiveness, student engagement, and
learning outcomes.
Learning Environment Enhancement: Evaluate the University's physical,
technological, and organizational learning environment and recommend
evidence-based improvements.
Educational Policy and Quality Assurance: Develop and recommend
institutional policies, frameworks, and guidelines relating to teaching,
learning, curriculum, assessment, and quality assurance.
Teacher Education: Design and implement certificate programmes and
professional development initiatives for K–12 teachers and other external
stakeholders.
School of Education Development: Conduct feasibility studies and provide
strategic recommendations for establishing a School of Education at IUB.
Research Capacity Building: Strengthen research culture through faculty
mentoring, research capacity building, and scholarly collaboration.
Strategic Partnerships: Initiate, establish, and strengthen collaborations
with universities, government agencies, embassies, development
partners, professional organizations, and international institutions.
Institutional Development: Support institutional accreditation, quality
enhancement, internationalization, benchmarking, and continuous
institutional improvement initiatives that strengthen IUB's academic
reputation and global competitiveness.
Strategic Advisory: Prepare policy briefs, analytical reports, and evidence-
based recommendations for the Pro-Vice Chancellor on teaching, learning,
educational innovation, faculty development, and higher education policy.
Representation and Knowledge Sharing: Represent the Office of the Pro-
Vice Chancellor at meetings, conferences, workshops, and professional
forums while promoting international best practices in higher education.
Other Responsibilities: Foster a collaborative academic culture and
undertake other responsibilities assigned by the Pro-Vice Chancellor.
These responsibilities may be revised from time to time to meet the
evolving needs of the Office of the Pro-Vice Chancellor and the University
with respect to teaching and learning, faculty development, quality
assurance, and other related institutional priorities.
