Job Context:
∎ World Vision Bangladesh is currently accepting applications for a Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Advisor for an anticipated USAID-funded Bangladesh Community Nutrition Activity. The anticipated goal of this activity is to improve the nutrition outcomes of pregnant and lactating women and children less than five years old in Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Community Nutrition Activity will address the inequitable nutrition outcomes of the most vulnerable segments of the population through a targeted community-health system strengthening approach.
∎ This activity is expected to be a five-year program in the $25-50M range. The solicitation is expected to be released in April 2021 and awarded in September 2021. The position is contingent upon funding and donor approval.
∎ The SBC Advisor will work with the project Chief of Party and other project team members to oversee program areas aimed at increasing the adoption of critical-priority nutrition, family planning, sanitation and hygiene and other health behaviors through targeted and tailored innovative social and behavior change activities that reach households and communities.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Set priorities for the project’s overall SBC technical vision; provide technical leadership, strategic management and direction.
∎ Oversee the design and implementation of all SBC activities for the project.
∎ Lead the development and implementation of innovative and rigorous social and behaviour change communication strategies to increase the adoption of critical-priority nutrition, family planning, sanitation and hygiene and other health behaviors.
∎ Oversee the integration of SBC into all program result areas and develop a comprehensive approach that includes households, communities, service delivery points (health and non-health) and policy makers.
∎ Devise an approach to define and address social norms at the community and household levels that impede adoption of healthy spacing and timing of pregnancy, address the social norms including gender and social inequities that limit uptake of family planning services for spacing, with a renewed focus on postpartum family planning (PPFP).
∎ Support formative and evaluation research, barriers and facilitators surveys as needed, to inform project’s SBC programming.
∎ Identify barriers to address and critical behaviors that contribute to improving nutrition that are feasible, doable and sustainable beyond the life of the Project.
∎ Support the project’s effort to leverage and coordinate existing programs, initiatives to create access to meet the possible increased demand for nutrition, hygiene and sanitation products, including facilitating linkages with private sector providers.
∎ Support development of SBCC strategies, materials, media, and implementation plans that reflect global best practices.
∎ Coordinate the review and adaptation of existing SBCC capacity strengthening and tools for the project and local implementing partners as appropriate
∎ Oversee the writing of technical and program reports and compliance with reporting and programmatic requirements.
∎ Coordinate effectively with relevant government and non-governmental stakeholders, USAID, and other donors, as appropriate.

Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 10 years’ of SBCC-specific experience in designing, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of SBCC strategies and materials as well as related training
∎ Demonstrated in-depth understanding of nutrition and health services, family planning, and sanitation and hygiene in Bangladesh
∎ Understanding of and expertise in behavior change communication
∎ Experienced in pre-testing and concept testing SBCC approaches and content
∎ At least 5 years experience supporting and managing communication programs in Bangladesh or the South Asian region
∎ Strong knowledge and experience with social and behavior change programs in Bangladesh or the South Asian region
∎ Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to plan and conduct participatory training activities
∎ Experience and skills in using online and social media platforms for communication and promotional activities
∎ Experience working with market research and creative agencies
∎ Familiarity with USAID’s administrative, management and reporting procedures and systems
∎ Experience coordinating qualitative and quantitative research is desirable
∎ Strong professional reputation
∎ Ability to effectively create and maintain strategic partnerships
∎ Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
