• Bachelor's degree (Honours) or Master's degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Science, or a closely related discipline; a postgraduate teaching qualification (B.Ed., PGCE, or equivalent) is strongly preferred.

• Strong command of spoken and written English.

• Minimum 6 years of proven experience teaching Biology at the secondary or A-Level stage within a Cambridge or Edexcel-affiliated institution.

• Demonstrated track record of strong student outcomes in Cambridge/Edexcel IGCSE, AS, and A-Level Biology examinations.

• Hands-on experience in designing, preparing, and supervising Biology practical sessions and laboratory activities.

• Prior experience in curriculum development, academic mentoring, or departmental coordination is a significant advantage.

• Deep subject-matter expertise across the Cambridge/Edexcel Biology curriculum with the ability to make complex life science concepts engaging and accessible.

• Strong classroom and laboratory management skills, proficiency in practical and safety protocols, and a commitment to student welfare.

• Effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues; familiarity with digital teaching tools and e-learning platforms is an advantage.

Job Summary

The Senior Biology Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering high-quality, Cambridge/Edexcel-aligned Biology lessons to students at the secondary and A-Level stages. The role requires an experienced, subject-specialist educator who can inspire scientific curiosity, develop deep biological understanding, lead practical laboratory sessions, achieve strong examination results, mentor junior science staff, and contribute actively to curriculum and departmental development.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, Cambridge/Edexcel-aligned Biology lessons for secondary and A-Level students, covering Cell Biology, Genetics, Ecology, Physiology, Evolution, and related topics.

• Design and safely conduct laboratory practical, dissections, and biological investigations in line with the Cambridge/Edexcel practical assessment framework and institutional safety protocols.

• Set and mark assessments regularly, providing constructive and individualised feedback to support student progress and attainment.

• Prepare students thoroughly for Cambridge IGCSE, AS, and A-Level Biology examinations through structured revision, past paper analysis, and exam technique coaching.

• Contribute to the review and development of the biology curriculum, schemes of work, lesson resources, and assessment materials.

• Ensure all laboratory sessions are conducted in full compliance with health and safety regulations, biological specimen handling protocols, and institutional risk assessment procedures.

• Mentor and support junior Science teachers in pedagogical practice, lesson planning, and classroom management.

• Assist the Head of Department in coordinating departmental activities, laboratory resources, and academic initiatives.

• Maintain accurate student attendance records and all required academic documentation, and communicate student progress professionally with parents and staff.

• Uphold all school policies on safeguarding, child protection, laboratory safety, and professional conduct at all times.

• Perform any other responsibilities reasonably assigned by management in support of the school's academic mission.
