Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Interpret blueprints and isometric drawing: Thoroughly understand technical drawings and written instructions to determine fabrication requirements, including pipe sizes, materials, and layouts.
∎ Select and prepare materials: Choose appropriate pipe materials based on project needs, such as carbon steel, stainless steel, or plastic. Utilize cutting tools and machinery to prepare pipes to correct dimensions and angles.
∎ Perform fabrication tasks: Employ various techniques like cutting, bending, threading, and grooving to shape pipes according to specifications. Operate cutting torches, saws, bending machines, and threading equipment safely and efficiently.
∎ Welding: Utilize different welding techniques (e.g., stick, MIG, TIG) to join pipe sections and fittings securely, adhering to strict quality control standards. Conduct visual and non-destructive testing to ensure weld integrity.
∎ Assemble piping systems: Follow blueprints and layouts to assemble intricate piping systems, ensuring proper alignment, support, and leak-free connections. Install valves, flanges, and other necessary components.
∎ Quality control: Inspect completed work for accuracy, dimensions, weld quality, and adherence to specifications. Perform pressure testing to confirm system integrity.
∎ Maintain tools and equipment: Clean, calibrate, and maintain assigned tools and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment for timely repair.
∎ Adhere to safety regulations: Understand and follow all safety protocols related to equipment operation, hazardous materials, and working at heights. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) consistently.
∎ Collaborate with others: Work effectively with project managers, welders, fitters, and other tradespeople to achieve project goals efficiently and safely.
