Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Conduct medical assessments of inpatients, including history taking, physical examinations, and ordering diagnostic tests for thalassemia patients.
∎ Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for thalassemia patients.
∎ Determine blood transfusion requirements.
∎ Oversee the administration of blood transfusions, ensuring adherence to protocols for patient safety and infection control.
∎ Work closely with hematologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated and comprehensive care.
∎ Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient cases, treatment plans, and discharge planning.
∎ Coordinate with laboratory and diagnostic services to ensure timely and accurate test results.
∎ Coordinate with administrative staff for patient appointments and scheduling.
∎ Monitor patients’ progress, adjust treatments as necessary, and manage any complications or side effects of therapies.
∎ Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including patient histories, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
∎ Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements regarding documentation and patient care.
∎ Stay updated with the latest medical research and advancements in thalassemia care.
∎ Aware patients and their families about thalassemia, its complications, and the importance of adherence to treatment plans.
∎ Provide counselling and support to help patients and families cope with the chronic nature of the disease.
∎ Organize blood donation campaigns that ensure donor safety and education while adhering to regulatory guidelines.
∎ Develop and implement educational initiatives to raise awareness about the importance of blood donations, dispelling myths, addressing concerns, and highlighting its life-saving impact through PowerPoint presentations.
∎ Work Hours: Our regular work follows a roster with two shifts (8:00 am to 4:00 pm) and (2:00 pm to 10:00 pm).
