Educational Requirements:
∎ Masters in English
∎ Specialized professional and/or formal education in English, school administration, instructional leadership, or educational leadership is highly preferred

∎ 3 to 5 year(s)
Job Responsibilities:
∎ to actively engage in Departmental Self Review, the aim of which to confidently review the quality of teaching and learning, on a regular and systematic basis
∎ to act upon the findings from Departmental Self Review to maintain the highest quality of teaching and learning across the department
∎ to engage colleagues to talk about their teaching and the impact that it has on pupil learning
∎ to involve all colleagues in departmental development planning
∎ to ensure that data is used effectively as useful measure of progress, though never as blunt instrument and always accompanied with a deep understanding of the pupils as individuals
∎ to be responsible for the efficient running of his/her department
∎ to have particular responsibility for the appraisal, professional welfare and training and development of members of the Faculty, especially new and student teachers
∎ to ensure members of the Faculty adhere to the criteria as set out in the Departmental Handbook with particular regard to the setting and marking of work and reporting procedures
∎ to bring to the attention of the Deputy Head (Academic) any difficulties which arise within the department
∎ to hold regular meetings, formal and informal, to discuss Department matters and to ensure that the Department works as a team. Minutes of these meetings to be sent to the Principal
∎ to be responsible for the drawing up of syllabuses/schemes of work; Departmental hand-outs for Open Morning; the Faculty handbook; display and the general appearance of the Department
∎ to be responsible for the selection of textbooks and teaching materials, and the methods of teaching used by members of the Department
∎ to be accountable to the Headmaster for all budgeting within the Department, and the implementation of Health and Safety Policies within the area to be responsible for the furniture and fabric within the Department
∎ to provide the Principal with timetable allocation of Department staff
∎ to set work for an absent member of the Department if he/she is unable to do so
∎ to share in the appointment of new staff to the Department
∎ to co-operate with other Departments in cross-curricular activities
∎ to keep up to date with educational developments and changes within the subject area
∎ to review examination results within the Department and implement remedial action when necessary
∎ to ensure that base-line data is being used to monitor, and where possible improve, the performance of the Department and the pupils within it
∎ to present to examination results to the Principal and SLT, and discuss them as requested
∎ to ensure that pupils are entered for public examinations in liaison with the examinations officers
∎ to liaise with administrative staff where appropriate
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 35 to 60 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ Curriculum/ Program Development, Education Administration/ Management, Teaching/ Training
∎ Must have experience as the subject specialist
∎ Must have experience of minimum 02 years as the Head of Department
∎ Must have experience of teaching A-level English under Cambridge/Edexcel curriculum
Salary: Negotiable
