Job Context:
∎ Background:
∎ The main objective of the key position is to increase poor household production, consumption and income, focusing on improved nutrition sensitive fisheries-aquaculture-horticulture production system and other fisheries and aquaculture opportunity as income generating activities.
∎ Eligibility, Location and Duration:
∎ This position will be based at WorldFish`s Country Office in Sylhet, Bangladesh. Interviews are expected to be held in last week of May 2019. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful candidate should be available to commence by June 2019 for an initial nine (9) months fixed term contract, with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding availability.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Deliver/disseminate improved nutrition sensitive technologies and varieties to project beneficiaries through Government of Bangladesh (GoB) line departments, Implementing partners NGOs and private sectors in respective districts/upazilas of Suchana project.
∎ Work closely with other coalition partners and public-private stakeholders in order to select project beneficiaries and encourage them to participate and utilize aquaculture, fisheries and horticulture potentials for increased consumption and income.
∎ Active participate in situation appraisal including resource mapping and conduct adaptive research for appropriate aquaculture and fisheries management by the very poor households for nutrition and income.
∎ Develop and dissemination of improved aquaculture and horticulture technologies and varieties, mange fisheries resources, quality inputs allocated to the selected beneficiaries through GO-NGO-Private sectors including Union Parishad partnership in respective villages of selected unions of the Upazilas of WorldFish responsibilities.
∎ Plan and implement aquaculture, fisheries and horticulture activities including training, coaching, refreshers training, establish demonstrations, input distribution, and linkage events for the beneficiaries. Prepare monthly and annual work plans and budgets of the Upazilas.
∎ Assist District Fisheries Specialist in developing and implementing activities plan, prepare reports in line with project and donor requirements and WorldFish regulations and maintain budgetary control of expenditure, and prepare basic financial reports for the respective district.
∎ Support Suchana team to perform overall program including Gender, Nutrition, Environment and Monitoring & Evaluation and administrative functions of the project.
∎ Represent WorldFish in Upazila level management/implementation committee as required. Ensure timely and through communication with coalition partners, government agencies, NGOs, farmers association, private sectors and clients as and when required to achieve targets on time.
∎ Support WorldFish Training Specialist, Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist, Finance and Admin Officers, HR and other staffs for developing and delivering the responsibilities.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 7 years working experience in nutrition and/or public health sector; candidate with experienced more than 10 years more will be given preferences.
∎ Excellent knowledge and technical skills related to human nutrition/health and food and nutrition security and demonstrated ability to perform critical thinking on research issues, with at least 3 years of relevant research experience, including experience working in developing country.
∎ Documented strengths in data analysis and interpretation of results.
∎ Strong skills and experience in technical writing in English and spoken in Bengali.
∎ Experience in implementing SBCC interventions in the area of nutrition.
∎ Expertise in designing research studies and analyzing quantitative data using statistical analysis software.
∎ Interest in working across disciplines to develop innovative metrics for understanding linkages between agriculture, food systems, and nutrition and finding novel ways to enhance the "nutrition-sensitive" effects of agriculture/aquaculture.
∎ Desired Skills and Qualifications:
∎ Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Fisheries or relevant discipline.
∎ Minimum 8 year experiences in INGO/private companies preferably in overall operational functions.
∎ Experience in DFID/EU funded projects' policies and procedures.
∎ Capable of managing project including project planning, implementation, writing case study, report and excellent communication skills in English and Bengali.
∎ Ability to assist implementing partners in preparing budget for activities of respective Upazila assigned, monitor cost, training material and other demonstration materials and basic reporting.
∎ Ability to think clearly and analytically, setting priority, meeting deadlines, solving problems and making decision timely.
∎ Significant experiences in negotiating and managing public and private partners.
∎ Strong in essential computer packages like MS word, MS excel, MS power point and internet etc.
∎ Ability to work with minimum supervision consistently approaches work with positive attitude.
∎ Ability to adapt and work with all culture, gender, religion, race, nationality and age.
∎ Sound technical knowledge and experiences on fisheries and aquaculture participatory adaptive research, extension and training.
∎ Ability to work with collaborative environment with excellent interpersonal skills in order to be a valuable team player
∎ Proficient in Microsoft Office specifically Excel, Word, and Power Point.
∎ A demonstrated record of inter-disciplinary, admin, financial, procurement functions and the desire to work in a consortium environment.
∎ Committed and motivated.
∎ Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Salary:
∎ This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position with annual salary ranging between BDT 726,527 to BDT 770,773 per annum. WorldFish`s NRS shall receive comprehensive benefits including (but not limited to) insurance coverage for staff and eligible dependents, and pension/ provident fund contribution.
