Experience:

• At least, 5-7 years of experience with the Red Cross/Red Crescent movement/INGOs/International multinational organizations/Embassies/Non-profit organizations.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Bangladeshi driving license for at least 5 years.

• Excellent driving skills including 4X4 handling skills.

• Knowledge in Defensive Driving.

• Good mental and physical health.

• Able to work independently and as part of the team.

• Exceptional level of patience and able to work long hours.

• Basic mechanical skills.

• Ability to maintain accurate log records.

• Documentation preparation and filing skills.

• Ability to deliver unfavourable news to unsuccessful suppliers/providers.

• Sensitive to cultural and regional issues.

• Good time keeping.

Languages:

• Fluently in spoken and written Bangla.

• Capable of understanding, speaking and writing English

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, with a network of 191-member National Societies. The overall aim of the IFRC is “to inspire, encourage, facilitate, and promote at all times all forms of humanitarian activities by National Societies with a view to preventing and alleviating human suffering and thereby contributing to the maintenance and promotion of human dignity and peace in the world.”  The IFRC works to meet the needs and improve the lives of vulnerable people before, during and after disasters, health emergencies and other crises. The IFRC is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (Movement), together with its member National Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The work of the IFRC is guided by the following fundamental principles: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality.

The IFRC is led by its Secretary General, and has its Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The Headquarters are organized into three main Divisions: (i) National Society Development and Operations Coordination; (ii) Global Relations, Humanitarian Diplomacy and Digitalization; and (iii) Management Policy, Strategy and Corporate Services.

The IFRC has five regional offices in Africa, Asia Pacific, Middle East and North Africa, Europe, and the Americas.  The IFRC also has country cluster delegation and country delegations throughout the world. Together, the Geneva Headquarters and the field structure (regional, cluster and country) comprise the IFRC Secretariat.

IFRC has a zero-tolerance policy on conduct that is incompatible with the aims and objectives of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, including sexual exploitation and abuse, sexual harassment and other forms of harassment, abuse of authority, discrimination, and lack of integrity (including but not limited to financial misconduct). IFRC also adheres to strict child safeguarding principles.

IFRC Country Delegation (CD) in Bangladesh is one of the Delegations in the Asia Pacific Region. It provides vital technical, financial and logistical support to the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) while strengthening its capacity and participation in national, regional and global cooperation during emergency and non-emergency times. IFRC CD in Bangladesh has been supporting BDRCS in executing its strategic plan 2021-25 which is aligned with IFRC’s Strategy 2030. Accordingly, multiple numbers of programmes/projects and emergency operations are currently being implemented by BDRCS with technical and financial assistance from IFRC and IFRC’s membership - Participating National Societies (PNSs). IFRC also seeks support and explores funding opportunities from different donors and partners, aiming to reduce the vulnerability of at-risk people, ensuring accountability to the existing and potential donors/back donors and partnership management is essential and crucial.

The American Red Cross as a Partner National Society (PNS) in Bangladesh is partnered with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) and the Bangladesh Country Office of IFRC to support the efforts of BDRCS which include implementation of humanitarian and development programs that address the needs of vulnerable people.

Job Purpose:

The Driver will drive and maintain the IFRC/ American Red Cross vehicle assigned to them. The Driver will also ensure the safety of passengers in their vehicle and comply with IFRC and American Red Cross rules and regulations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implement/maintain Federation standard practices for vehicle.

• Practice preventative and curative maintenance of vehicles to maximise fleet potential.

• Check and clean vehicle daily.

• Routinely service the vehicle as per IFRC policy.

• Support the delegation by transporting documents or any other material to and from the office.

• Backstop Fleet Movement Staff in their absence or when workload dictates.

• Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

• Carry out other duties that may arise from time to time.

• Provide support as needed.
