Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Lab Assistant ensures safety of students and provides instructional support under the direction of the classroom teacher.
∎ Safety:
∎
∎ Ensures the safety of all students in the lab and classroom through observation and intervention.
∎ Takes precautionary measures to ensure students are safe in the lab.
∎ Immediately reports any and all safety concerns to classroom teacher.
∎ Helps prepare and clean up projects, and maintains classroom tidiness.
∎ Instructional Support
∎
∎ Maintains positive verbal communication with all students.
∎ Assists in the implementation of learning targets as determined by the teacher.
∎ Encourages students to be independent, creative and capable thinkers.
∎ Assists students in the Design Process.
∎ Demonstrates knowledge of subject matter and works according to current educational practices.
∎ Assists in illustrating, or demonstrating proper use of shop tools and machines, safety practices, and theory as applied to Design Technology.
∎ Specializes and is knowledgeable in a variety of areas, such as woodworking, metalworking, electrical, graphic arts, mechanical drawing, laser cutting, 3D printing, and others as appropriate

∎ Assists in creating a classroom environment conducive to learning.
∎ Assists in maintaining discipline in the classroom, providing a safe environment for all.
