About Us
Commander Soap Co. Ltd. is a renowned Bangladeshi manufacturer of personal care and home
care products, proudly producing and marketing its products under the COSCO brand for over
75 years.
Building on our rich manufacturing heritage, we are committed to delivering high-quality
products to our valued customers, with sustainability, integrity, ethical business practices, and
teamwork at the core of our organization.
We are seeking a highly competent and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our
finance and accounting operations, strengthen financial governance, and support the company’s
continued growth.
Advanced manufacturing cost accounting expertise and hands-on proficiency in
enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are mandatory requirements for this
position.
The successful candidate must be capable of independently understanding, evaluating, and
improving complex manufacturing accounting processes within an integrated ERP environment.
Beyond financial reporting and compliance, the CFO will play a central role in financial planning,
operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making.
The CFO will report directly to the Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manufacturing Finance and Cost Accounting
● Take full ownership of manufacturing cost accounting, including raw material
consumption, work-in-progress (WIP), finished goods, inventory valuation, and cost of
goods sold.
● Ensure the accuracy and integrity of product costing across complex manufacturing
processes and large inventories involving thousands of SKUs.
● Demonstrate a thorough understanding of bills of materials (BOMs), production orders,
standard and actual costing, manufacturing variances, and inventory reconciliation.
● Establish reliable methods for overhead allocation, contribution margin analysis, product-
level profitability, and cost control.
● Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies between physical inventory, production
records, ERP valuations, and financial accounts.
● Develop meaningful cost and profitability reports to support pricing, production planning,
and management decisions.
● Continuously improve manufacturing accounting processes to ensure accuracy,
efficiency, transparency, and scalability.
2. ERP Systems and Financial Process Management
● Demonstrate advanced, hands-on proficiency in enterprise ERP systems, preferably
Odoo, SAP, Oracle, or comparable platforms.
● Possess the technical competence to independently investigate and resolve complex
accounting, inventory valuation, and transaction reconciliation issues within the ERP
system.
● Ensure accurate integration of finance, manufacturing, inventory, procurement, and
sales operations.
● Oversee high-volume financial transactions and complex inventory movements while
maintaining reliable and auditable accounting records.
● Understand the accounting implications of ERP workflows, including inventory
adjustments, manufacturing orders, goods receipts, deliveries, returns, and valuation
changes.
● Develop and enforce robust ERP controls, approval workflows, reconciliations, and data
integrity procedures.
● Lead improvements in ERP utilization, process automation, financial reporting, and
operational efficiency.
● Work closely with other departments to ensure that operational transactions are
accurately and consistently reflected in the financial accounts.
3. Financial Governance and Fiduciary Responsibility
● Maintain the highest standards of fiduciary responsibility, integrity, transparency, and
ethical conduct in safeguarding the financial interests of the company and its
shareholders.
● Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
consistent with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and applicable
regulations.
● Ensure financial accountability, regulatory compliance, and sound governance
throughout the organization.
● Act as a financial gatekeeper, ensuring appropriate financial discipline and responsible
utilization of company resources.
4. Financial Accounting and Reporting
● Lead the finance and accounting teams in maintaining accurate, complete, and timely
financial records.
● Oversee the preparation of IFRS-compliant financial statements, monthly management
accounts, cash flow statements, and financial performance reports.
● Ensure timely reconciliation of all material accounts, including inventory, receivables,
payables, bank balances, and manufacturing-related accounts.
● Deliver clear, accurate, and professionally presented financial reports that enable
effective management decisions.
● Establish rigorous standards for financial documentation, closing procedures, and
reporting accuracy.
5. Financial Planning and Strategic Management
● Lead the development and coordination of the company’s annual business plan (ABP),
budgets, financial forecasts, and performance targets in collaboration with departmental
heads and senior management.
● Monitor actual performance against budgets and forecasts, investigate variances, and
recommend corrective actions.
● Provide actionable financial analysis to support pricing decisions, operational
improvements, capital investments, and business expansion.
● Monitor profitability, working capital, liquidity, cash flow, and overall financial
performance.
● Evaluate financial risks and opportunities, ensuring that management decisions support
the company’s long-term financial objectives.
6. Audit, Taxation, and Regulatory Compliance
● Maintain accounting systems, internal controls, and supporting documentation capable
of withstanding rigorous internal and external audits.
● Coordinate statutory and external audits and ensure the timely resolution of audit
findings.
● Ensure compliance with applicable taxation, VAT, and other regulatory obligations.
● Collaborate with external tax consultants and advisers to develop appropriate tax
policies and maintain effective tax compliance.
7. Leadership and Continuous Improvement
● Lead, mentor, and develop a technically proficient, accountable, and professional
finance and accounting team.
● Establish clear responsibilities, performance standards, and effective supervisory
controls within the department.
● Promote collaboration, mutual respect, and effective communication across the
organization.
● Ensure that financial reports, analyses, and recommendations are communicated with
clarity and professionalism.
● Maintain and execute a structured plan for continuous improvement in financial
processes, ERP utilization, internal controls, and team capabilities.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Requirements
● Professional accounting qualification such as CA, ACCA, CMA, CPA, or an equivalent
recognized qualification.
● Substantial experience in financial management and accounting within a manufacturing
organization.
● Demonstrated technical mastery of manufacturing cost accounting, including
BOMs, WIP valuation, inventory costing, overhead allocation, production variances, and
product-level profitability.
● Advanced, hands-on ERP proficiency is mandatory, with the ability to investigate and
resolve complex accounting and inventory-related issues independently.
● Proven experience managing large transaction volumes, complex inventory structures,
and integrated manufacturing and accounting processes.
● Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting, internal controls, taxation, and financial
planning.
● Demonstrated leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience with Odoo Enterprise, SAP, Oracle, or similar integrated manufacturing ERP
systems.
● Experience implementing or improving ERP-based manufacturing accounting and
inventory valuation processes.
● A track record of strengthening financial controls, improving reporting accuracy, and
developing finance teams within growing manufacturing businesses.
Candidate Assessment
Shortlisted candidates will be expected to demonstrate their technical competence through
practical discussions and assessments covering:
● Manufacturing cost accounting, inventory valuation, and reconciliation.
● ERP accounting workflows, transaction-level troubleshooting, and financial data integrity.
● Financial analysis, profitability management, and management reporting.
Our Expectations
We are seeking a technically accomplished, hands-on CFO, not simply an administrator of
the finance department.
The successful candidate must possess the expertise to understand financial transactions from
their operational origins through to their final accounting treatment, particularly within
manufacturing and inventory management.
They must combine this technical capability with uncompromising ethical standards, sound
financial judgment, effective leadership, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Our objective is to build a robust, transparent, and scalable financial management function
capable of supporting our company’s long-term growth and ambitions.
Candidates can apply through job portals or by emailing jobs@cosco-bd.com.
