Educational Requirements:
∎ 4 years Bachelor's degree in Textile engineering/ Textile Technology, with a minimum CGPA of 3.5 in a scale of 4.0 (or equivalent First Class)
∎ Having minimum First Division/ CGPA of 4.5 (on the scale of 5.0 & 5.0) in SSC & HSC or its equivalent;
∎ A Master's degree in sustainability management/ textile engineering/ textile design, environmental science from a recognized University with a minimum of 3 years of active teaching experience
∎ or
∎ A Master's degree in sustainability management/ textile engineering/ textile design/ environmental science from a recognized University with a minimum of 6 years of professional experience
∎ Or
∎ A Ph.D degree or its equivalent in relevant field from a recognized University

Job Context:
∎ The successful candidate will complete a fully funded 8-month stay in Dresden, Germany at the United Nations University Institute for Integrated Management of Material Fluxes and of Resources (UNU- FLORES) and Technical University Dresden (TU Dresden), both based in Dresden, Germany. It is intended that the stay will take place in 2020 starting in. During this period, you will also complete a one-month internship with Engelbert Strauss, a German leading manufacturer of workwear, apparel and work-equipment, to be completed at their central campus in Biebergemünd, Germany to gain practical expertise in the textile and garment industry. Upon completion of the training you will begin your Assistant Professor role at AUST under the Department of Textile Engineering. You will work in a highly interesting environment at the interface between economics and ecology, you will participate in the transfer of knowledge into company practice and receive intensive supervision during the research stay in Dresden.
∎ Academic Stay in Germany
∎ During your training period you will be mentored by staff at TU Dresden and UNU-FLORES and participate in Bachelor and Master level courses offered by the Chair of Sustainability Management and Environmental Accounting at TU Dresden and in e-learning at UNU-FLORES. You will work with and be supervised by leading scientists, and academics from a wide range of disciplines comprising of natural sciences, engineering and the social sciences. Opportunities to develop your career by improving your teaching- and research skills, or German language skills will also be considered. Upon completion of the programme, further study opportunities, such as a PhD enrolment can also be considered.

Additional Requirements:
∎ A minimum of 3 publications of which 1 should be in a reputed and indexed journal as first author
∎ Knowledge of the textile industry and/or its social, ecological and economic challenges;
∎ Knowledge of statistical methods and experience in working with standard business software (e.g. Microsoft Office);
∎ Interest to adapt modern teaching skills and methods as well as curriculum development;
∎ Long-term commitment to become a Faculty member of the Department of Textile Engineering at AUST in Dhaka and to setup the Chair for Sustainability and Innovation Management;
∎ Willingness to travel both nationally (within Bangladesh) and internationally (possession of international travel documents e.g. passport);
∎ Interest in managing international multi-stakeholder projects
∎ Fluency in English both in written and oral communication (valid IELTS test result is an advantage);
∎ Desirable:
∎ Ability to work independently and flexibly
∎ Ability to speak German is an advantage
∎ Work experience in sustainability and education related projects is an advantage
∎ Willingness to collaborate in interdisciplinary teamwork
∎ Strong analytical reasoning skills
∎ Ability to manage projects and teams
∎ Assistance on the formalities of the research stay in Dresden (e.g. accommodation costs, subsistence costs, transport advice) will be provided.
