Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Conduct regular inspections and diagnostics of the company's vehicles, identifying mechanical and electrical issues.
∎ Supervise and coordinate the repair and maintenance of the fleet, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
∎ Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all vehicles, including cars, trucks, and heavy-duty vehicles.
∎ Ensure proper servicing, including oil changes, brake repairs, and tire replacements, and manage any major overhauls or repairs.
∎ Source and verify quality spare parts, tools, and equipment for vehicle repair and maintenance.
∎ Maintain a detailed log of vehicle maintenance, repairs, fuel consumption, and mileage for efficient fleet management.
∎ Monitor fleet performance using telematics or GPS systems and provide recommendations for vehicle efficiency improvements.
∎ Track vehicle lifespans and make recommendations for replacements or additions to the fleet based on operational needs.
∎ Ensure that all vehicles are legally compliant with road safety standards, licensing, and insurance requirements.
∎ Work closely with drivers to ensure they are aware of vehicle maintenance procedures and safety guidelines.
∎ Prepare and manage the annual budget for vehicle maintenance and repairs, ensuring cost-effective operations.
∎ Implement and enforce safety protocols for vehicle operation and maintenance in line with company policies.
∎ Negotiate contracts and coordinate with external service providers, mechanics, and spare part suppliers.
∎ Ensure timely procurement of quality vehicle parts and supplies needed for repairs and routine maintenance.
∎ Build and maintain relationships with authorized service centers, parts suppliers, and insurance companies.
∎ Job Context: The position will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of the company’s fleet of vehicles under the Transport Management section.
