1. Teaching & Learning
Theory Classes: Deliver lectures to MBBS and BDS students across all systems of medical physiology including General Physiology, Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Neurophysiology, Renal, Endocrine, Gastrointestinal, Reproductive, Exercise and Environmental Physiology, and Applied Clinical Physiology.
Small Group Teaching: Supervise tutorials, integrated teaching (vertical/horizontal integration with clinical departments), problem-based learning (PBL), and case-based learning sessions to ensure clinical relevance.
Practical Classes: Oversee and conduct advanced practical sessions including hematology, clinical physiology (ECG, BP, PFT), and interpretation of physiological data.
Postgraduate Education (if applicable): Teach MD (Physiology) students and supervise their thesis/dissertation work.
Curriculum Development: Participate in planning and updating the curriculum as per BMDC guidelines and competency-based medical education (CBME) requirements.
2. Assessment & Examination
Conduct internal assessments (formative and summative) including OSPE/OSCE formats, structured viva, and reflective learning evaluations.
Set question papers for university professional examinations.
Serve as an examiner for MBBS and MD professional examinations.
Provide remedial teaching and academic counseling to struggling students.
3. Research & Scholarly Activities
Lead and conduct independent research in specialized areas of Physiology.
Publish research findings regularly in peer-reviewed national and international journals.
Supervise research projects of postgraduate students and junior faculty.
Present papers at national and international conferences (e.g., Bangladesh Physiological Society).
Organize departmental journal clubs, seminars, and continuing medical education (CME) programs.
4. Administrative & Leadership Duties
Faculty Development: Organize faculty development programs and mentor Assistant Professors and Lecturers.
Committee Service: Serve on institutional committees related to academic planning, assessment, research, and accreditation.
Department Management: Assist the HOD in managing departmental resources, maintaining equipment, and preparing for BMDC inspections.
Hospital Responsibilities: Ensure proper coordination with clinical departments and contribute to hospital management activities as required.
Communication: Maintain inter-departmental, inter-institutional, and international communication for treatment, education, and research.
