Responsibilities & Context:
∎ To assist in shift operation of the power plant.
∎ Accountable to the concern Shift Engineer for proper discharge of the assigned duties.
∎ Keep informing the Control Room Shift Engineer for any abnormality and corrective measures taken by yourself or whether to be done by the Shift Engineer or whether Maintenance Engineer's presence is required to attend the problem.
∎ Replenish/top up the lube oil, coolant, Hydraulic Oil and Feed Water to the system as and when necessary.
∎ Take readings of all the gauges and parameters at a prescribed intervals and record in the respective Log Books.
∎ Take rounds to the Substations, Fuel Tank Yard, Fuel Treatment Plant, WTP, Boilers etc. wherever is the place of duty for visual inspection and recording of necessary parameters.
∎ To keep sharp watch on the levels of all the LT & HT water Tanks, HFO & LFO Tanks, and report to the Control Room of the levels. You should also be fully conversant of all the Valves and systems of the Sludge tank and Oily Water Tank.
∎ To write all the relevant events of the shift in the Shift Log Book including any pending actions to be taken in the next shift.
∎ Ensure proper Handing/Taking over of the duties among the senior operators of the relieving and the next shift.
∎ To assist in shift operation of the power plant.
