Job Responsibilities:
∎ ICN will carry out on going day today activities of surveillance of Infection Control by regular visits to essential hospital departments such as wards, OT, ICU, Laboratory, House keeping, Catering, Engineering, Pharmacy, Wash areas, etc.
∎ ICN will provide clinical advise and support to nurses and non clinical personnel on Infection Control issues
∎ Identify potential hazards and suggests appropriate remedial measures to relevant personnel.
∎ ICN will explain and interpret microbiology report to relevant nursing staff and advise Isolation Techniques generally and in specific clinical situations.
∎ Follow the Infection Control Protocols to identify, investigate and control out breaks of Infection
∎ Participate in informal and formal teaching programmes for nurses and other paramedical staff.
∎ Keep abreast with recent advances by reading relevant literature and attending appropriate courses and meetings of infection control
∎ To ensure that the infection control activities are fully implemented at respective working place and provide leadership for the same.
∎ To provide hands on training to nurses and monitor their training effectiveness by regularly interviewing the nurses
∎ Organize the relevant education of health care staff and encourage reflexive practice of infection control measures.
∎ Assists on orientation of new personnel and participated in continuing educational program and clinical nurse training.
∎ Conducts regular staff meetings with the staff.
∎ Maintains up to date knowledge and practice of nursing trends and new developments in the health field.
∎ Coordinates health education program in the unit.
∎ Supervises other no-nursing personnel.
∎ Conducts periodical survey to ensure nursing care standards.
∎ Additional Job Responsibilities
∎ Conduct surveillance activities.
∎ Ensures patient care services according to established procedures and policies.
∎ Regular visit to hospital dept: especially catering (food hygiene)
∎ Engineering dept: equipment, water supply, A/C, and environmental hygiene.
∎ Wards, clinics, ICU, OT , House keeping( cleaning ,waste disposal policies),Laboratory dept laboratory hazard waste disposals)
∎ Visit areas surrounding hospital premises and ensure action for proper hygiene and sanitation
∎ Supervises maintenance of records of nursing and medical treatment and related services carried out by nursing personnel.
∎ Ensures proper utilization of supplies and power to avoid waste.
∎ Ensures work place is always neat and clean.
∎ Acts promptly in emergency situation.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 25 to 30 years
∎ At least 2 years experience as Infection Control Nurse/Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Operation Theater(OT) experience will also be given preference
∎ Technical Competencies:
∎ Skills in organizing, directing and supervising of nursing personnel on respective work area.
∎ Basic Computer Skill.
∎ Guiding, teaching and inspiring the nurses on respective work area.
∎ Good technical Knowledge and skills.
∎ Behavioral Competencies:
∎ Coaching Skill.
∎ Planning / Organizing.
∎ Participative.
∎ Feed back & Follow up Skills.
∎ Must have valid BNC Registration
