Job Context:
∎ Folia is looking for a Product Engineer or Product Designer (Manager/Sr. Manager) to lead new product design from consumer insights through to prototyping and post-sales continual product improvement. Folia is looking for a trustworthy personnel with strong experience in consumer product design for mass market consumers to lead our design efforts in Bangladesh.
∎ You will refine our current consumer products and develop new product designs, all based on methodical consumer feedback. Short term we need to continue improving our current design. Long term you will lead the design of an entire product line.
∎ In all cases, Folia`s approach is to answer a simple question: what is the consumers` feedback? What is the voice of consumers on this? Do the designs meet their expectations? What improvements are needed for the consumer to love using the product and recommend it to their friends and family? Your job will be to make designs that are so simple and fit so seamlessly into consumer`s kitchens that water purification becomes a daily routine.
∎ The ideal candidate has experience in consumer research, human use factors, product design, working with prototyping shops, consumer feedback, design iteration, and then working with the engineering team as they scale up manufacturing of your designs.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Design and development of new products - Folia's patented process allows for new products able to address global problems at prices working class consumers can afford. You will need to take feedback from consumers and corporate clients and translate those into simple and elegant solutions that benefit the user.
∎ Consumer insight testing - Our users will always know more about the problems we are addressing than we will. Developing a rigorous testing plan and enacting it in the field is a key part of the position.
∎ Problem solving - You have a "get it done" attitude and a proven background of delivering exceptional solutions again and again.
∎ Producing sketches and sample designs - Work with our engineering team as they translate your designs into CAD files. Manufacturability, price, and environmental impact will all be balanced as a design develops.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Proven work experience in physical products design or similar e.g., consumer goods in any reputed FMCG company.
∎ Manager/Sr. Manager: 6 to 9+ years of physical product design and having its consumer testing, and a strong portfolio demonstrating breadth and creativity in consumer product design and development. Consumer insights, physical product design conception, prototyping, and improvements and a strong desire to visit the field yourself for direct consumer feedback. Start as a one-person department and in future years oversee the expansion.
∎ Willingness to work in Startup mindset and travel across the country as and when required.
∎ An ability to understand and analyze product performance metrics
∎ Ability to work with diverse stakeholders; internal and external
∎ Engineering degree in industrial design, product design, a related field, or strong professional exposure. Physical product design work experience can be equivalent.
∎ Track and communicate progress - Timelines, budgets, presentations, and high-level reports.
∎ We would also consider more experienced candidates with title and salary adjusted for market norms.
∎ Preferred:
∎ Enough understanding of materials and manufacturing to make good design decisions for easier and lower cost large-scale manufacturing
∎ Demonstrated ability to apply human centered design principles on projects to understand, clarify, and create designs that are both attractive and functional
∎ Language proficiency: Speaking and writing in English is a must
