Experience

  • At least 2 years’ experience in physiotherapy, primary health, or health education roles.

  • Proven experience working with elderly populations or Persons with Disabilities (PWD).

  • Experience in a refugee camp or NGO setting is highly preferred.

Language

  • Fluency in spoken Rohingya or Chittagonian language (Essential).

  • Ability to read and write Bangla fluently.

Responsibilities & Context:

Job Purpose of Physiotherapist (Health Educator):

The Health Educator will provide structured health education, counseling, and primary physical therapy services to patients at the Health Post. The primary focus is on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) prevention, lifestyle modification, and physical rehabilitation for elderly patients and Persons with Disabilities (PWD). The position works under the technical supervision of the Medical Officer.

Health Education and Therapy Services

  • Conduct group and individual health education sessions targeting NCD prevention, lifestyle modification, and treatment adherence.

  • Provide tailored physiotherapy support to NCD patients, including pain management techniques and mobility exercises.

  • Guide elderly and PWD beneficiaries on specific exercises to improve functional independence and manage physical challenges.

  • Use culturally appropriate IEC materials to ensure patients (especially those who are illiterate) understand their exercise and health plans.

Medication and Lifestyle Counseling

  • Explain the purpose, dosage, and side effects of prescribed NCD medicines.

  • Assess lifestyle risks and provide counseling on diet, physical activity, smoking cessation, and stress management.

  • Set small, achievable physical goals (e.g., improved walking distance or joint range) to be reviewed during follow-up visits.

Follow-up and Continuity of Care

  • Explain the importance of regular follow-up for both medical and therapy progress.

  • Coordinate with Porters (community staff) to track patients who miss appointments or require assistance during referral visits.

Coordination and Patient Support

  • Work closely with the NCD Screener and Medical Officer to identify patients who need specialized physical therapy or clinical assessment.

  • Coordinate with the Referral Facilitator to support patients being sent to higher-level rehabilitation or specialized care.

Records, Reporting, and Documentation

  • Record physiotherapy progress, lifestyle risks, and counseling goals accurately in individual patient records.

  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly activity reports, including the number of therapy sessions and education participants.

Quality, Ethics, and Compliance

  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and follow organizational Code of Conduct, PSEA, and workplace safety policies.

  • Participate in team meetings and capacity-building trainings.
