Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Blood Collection: Drawing blood from patients using venipuncture, finger sticks, or heel sticks (for infants).
∎ Patient Preparation: Explaining procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation.
∎ Sample Labeling: Labeling all samples accurately with patient information to prevent mix-ups.
∎ Maintaining Equipment: Ensuring that all phlebotomy equipment, such as needles and vials, are sterile and properly maintained.
∎ Record Keeping: Maintaining detailed records of all blood draws, including patient information and sample specifics.
∎ Patient Care: Providing care and comfort to patients during and after the blood draw, including applying bandages and addressing any immediate concerns.
