Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Hematology: The study of blood, including red and white cells, plasma, and blood marrow. Hematologists care for patients with blood disorders like leukemia, lymphoma, hemophilia, and anemia.

∎ Neuropathology: The study of the nervous system to diagnose neurological diseases.
∎
∎ Pediatric pathology: The study of tissues and cells to diagnose diseases and illnesses in children, fetuses, infants, adolescents, and young adults.
∎
∎ Medical microbiology: The diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of infections in patients and the community.
∎
∎ Medical virology: The management of blood-borne infections and other emerging viruses
∎ Disease diagnosis
∎ Pathologists diagnose diseases by studying tissues, fluids, or organs taken from the body. They often work with biopsies, which are surgically removed samples of diseased tissue.

∎ Pathologists write pathology reports to help with disease diagnosis, treatment, and study.
