Educational Requirements:
∎ B.Sc. Engineering in Electrical/Mechanical from a recognized college/university/institution.
Experience Requirements:
∎ At least 15 year(s)
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Provide direction and regularly review the safe and reliable operations of the power, water and auxiliaries plants.
∎ Ensure fuel availability at all times.
∎ Analysis of all trips and events. Prevention of the events in future with improved procedures and rectifications.
∎ Preparation and review of yearly budget.
∎ Supervise the safe startup and shutdown operations of the plant.
∎ Enforce Permit to work system for safety of personnel and plant
∎ Ensure plant availability, billing and settlement invoices are timely sent to the relevant parties.
∎ Regularly review the planned outage of the plant to minimize downtime as well as avoiding repetitive shutdown.
∎ Administer the purchase and nomination of fuels and chemical product.
∎ Continue review work procedures to enhance safety and reliability of the plant.
∎ Acting as Site Main Controller/Site Incidence Controller in the event of Plant Emergencies as per Emergency Preparedness and Crisis Response Management Procedure as per Tier basis.
∎ Involvement in the Business Continuity Unit Plan for Operations Department.
∎ Bring up EHS concerns to the attention of his direct supervisor or QHSE department.
∎ Be vigilant in the work area, identify and report to their Supervisors about imminent dangers / hazards / concerns to environment, health and safety.
∎ Always follow the standard operations control procedures and good EHS practices such as lifesaving rules, reporting of near misses, PTW compliance etc. so as to avoid any activity which might lead to EHS incidents / non-conformities.
∎ Follow sound environmental practices for conservation of natural resources, good housekeeping and proper waste disposals on and off duty.
∎ Perform Behaviour Based Safety Observation (BBSO) as per compliance requirements
Additional Requirements:
∎ Prior Work Experience: Minimum 15 year experience in a power plant or similar industry in plant operation; experience in Water and Power Plant Operations, preferably having Boiler / Steam Engineers Certificate.
∎ Knowledge: Should have knowledge in the operation and maintenance of waste recovery and packaged boilers and water treatment plants. Should be knowledgeable in electro-mechanical controls, national grid & load dispatch.
∎ Skills and Abilities: Analysis Skill, Strategic skill, Negotiation skill, Presentation skill, Excellent Communication Skill. Should be able to maintain overall operation of the operation department and guide and develop employees. Able to provide technical assistance and monitor and interpret plant operating data and render decisions or perform as may be necessary to maintain plant availability & efficiency. Computer literacy in MS office is a must.
∎ Language Proficiency: Excellent Working Knowledge both in English & Bangla.
∎ Maintain breathing apparatus and fireman's outfit such as cylinder gas, fireproof blanket, heatproof dress, life buoy and check if these are operable or not; take appropriate measures to replace if damaged. Ensure that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn by every employee at his/her work area.
∎ In coordination with operation department ensure projected hot / cold works are carried out in compliance with established practices and procedures;
∎ Prepare and arrange for display of safety posters and notices in consultation with HSE Manager.
∎ Recommend replacement of any defective working gear (Chain Block, Safety Belts, lifting belts, etc.
∎ Ensure & maintain "No Smoking Policy" at all times in the plant.
∎ Perform task assigned by the immediate supervisor to this position, but not specifically stated in this description.
