Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Performing Diagnostic Tests: Conduct various laboratory tests on samples (e.g., blood, urine, tissue) to assist in diagnosing diseases, monitoring health conditions, and supporting research.
∎ Preparing and Maintaining Equipment: Set up and calibrate laboratory instruments, ensuring they are functioning correctly. Regularly clean, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure precision and accuracy.
∎ Analyzing and Interpreting Results: Analyze test results, identify abnormalities, and document findings. In some cases, provide preliminary interpretations or recommendations based on the results.
∎ Ensuring Laboratory Safety: Follow all safety protocols to handle hazardous materials, chemicals, and biological specimens properly. Adhere to OSHA and other relevant safety standards to minimize risks in the laboratory.
∎ Managing Samples and Data: Collect, label, store, and dispose of samples correctly. Maintain organized records and databases for accurate tracking of test results and samples.
∎ Quality Control and Assurance: Ensure that testing procedures meet high standards of quality and consistency. Regularly participate in quality control checks and participate in audits to maintain laboratory certifications.
∎ Collaborating with Medical and Research Teams: Communicate findings and work closely with doctors, researchers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that lab results are accurately interpreted and used effectively.
∎ Training and Supervising Junior Staff: Provide guidance, training, and supervision to laboratory assistants or junior technologists, ensuring they adhere to standard procedures and perform tasks effectively.
