Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Draw blood from patients with correct labeling and troubleshoot any complications regarding sample collection.
∎ Operates and maintains sophisticated instruments and equipment used in the department and can properly set up, calibrate, maintain, operate, and shut down such instruments.
∎ Maintains competence in Laboratory Information Systems that is crucial to the quality operations of the laboratory and patient care.
∎ Capable of preparing pathological reports in the Hospital Information System.
∎ Maintain personal hygiene in the laboratory.
∎ Microscopically examining prepared cellular slides for evidence of abnormality or disease.
∎ Maintain proper storage of samples and test kits and monitor freeze temperature.
∎ Proper disposal of pathological specimen waste material and chemicals.
∎ Any other tasks are assigned by the authority.
∎ Job Context
∎ Medical Lab technologists will perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing, monitoring, treating, and preventing disease. These tests have a wide range of areas; Biochemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Histopathology, Microbiology, and Blood Transfusion.
