∎ Applications are invited on urgent basis for this position in IAHS-H, USTC on the following terms and conditions:
∎ Job Responsibilities
∎ Performs blood-typing tests using serological methods to determine ABO and Rh blood groups of donors and recipients.
∎ Conducts compatibility testing, such as cross-matching and antibody screening, to ensure safe transfusions and prevent adverse reactions.
∎ Screens potential blood donors for eligibility based on donor criteria, medical history, and risk factors to ensure the safety of blood products.
∎ Collects blood samples for testing and conducts infectious disease screening assays, including HIV, hepatitis, syphilis, and other transfusion-transmissible infections.
∎ Processes whole blood donations to separate into various blood components, including red blood cells, platelets, plasma, and cryoprecipitate, using centrifugation and filtration techniques.
∎ Prepares blood components for transfusion, storage, or further processing according to established protocols and quality standards.
∎ Performs daily quality control checks on blood bank equipment, reagents, and testing procedures to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
∎ Monitors and maintains temperature-controlled storage conditions for blood products, including refrigerated and frozen components, to preserve product integrity and safety.
∎ Monitors blood inventory levels, expiration dates, and usage patterns to optimize stock levels and minimize wastage.
∎ Coordinates with blood suppliers, donor recruitment teams, and other departments to ensure adequate blood supply and timely procurement of blood products.
∎ Documents all blood bank activities, including donor screening, testing results, component preparation, and transfusion records, accurately and comprehensively.
∎ Maintains complete and up-to-date records in electronic databases or paper-based systems in compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
∎ Responds promptly to requests for emergency blood products and provides transfusion support during critical care situations, surgeries, and trauma cases.
∎ Ensures rapid availability of compatible blood products and cross-matched units for urgent transfusion needs, following established protocols and emergency procedures.
∎ Ensures compliance with regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and best practices in blood banking, including FDA regulations, AABB standards, and CLIA guidelines.
∎ Collaborates with healthcare providers, transfusion services, and other laboratory departments to coordinate patient care, resolve discrepancies, and facilitate interdisciplinary communication.
∎ Communicates critical test results, blood product availability, and transfusion-related information to healthcare teams in a timely and accurate manner to support clinical decision-making.
∎ Carries out tasks assigned by the competent authority.
