Responsibilities & Context:
∎ The incumbent will be responsible for the hygiene and comfort of patients admitted in the hospital wards.
∎ Regularly clean out patient service areas, Ward and hospital premises
∎ Cleans with detergent, rinses and disinfect with 0.2% chlorine solution the stretcher when soiled and once a day at the end of his/her shift.
∎ Support a patient for movement from patient’s bed to toilet, nurse station, Duty doctor’s room, pathology lab, Imaging unit or to any other places while required using stretcher, wheelchair or trolly.
∎ Assist the patient to settle in the hospital (arranging chair or bed, blanket, cup, etc.).
∎ Support to distribute meals to patients and attendants; checks that patients are eating.
∎ Help attendance and the patient to ensure all necessary required support services.
∎ For those units/ corners without running water, ensure that there is always water available for handwashing and clinical activities as instructed by the Medical Officer in charge of the facility.
∎ Ensure patient hygiene (changes soiled clothes or blankets, etc.), assist the patient to go to toilet, taking bath and washing.
∎ Dispose hospital waste materials according to guidelines/ instruction at proper place(s); should be very active in maintaining a healthy waste management system.
∎ Help maintaining a sterile environment of the operation theatre where applicable, which includes floor cleaning, linen and OT clothes washing, drying, ironing and making them ready to use.
∎ Regular cleaning of toilets and patient beds/trolleys including cleaning of stool, urine, blood-mixed clothes and materials, after-delivery waste and other human excreta.
∎ Help nurses and nurse assistants in sterilizing instruments when required.
∎ Help nurses in maintaining a good stock of sterilized gauze, dressing pad, dressing materials and surgical instruments.
∎ Identify any area of probable unhealthy environment and clean proactively.
∎ Make patient’s attendants and other people aware about cleanliness of the hospital.
∎ Assist in crowd control and visitors control in the health premise.
∎ Accompany patients to the relevant ward/treatment sector once their treatment has been prescribed at the outpatient department or admitted as inpatient.
∎ Transport deceased patients to the morgue
∎ Perform such other duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.
