Job Context:
∎ The BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health (JPGSPH) at BRAC University was established in 2004 as an educational and research institution focusing on the integral areas of teaching, research, and services. The goal of the School is not only to impart knowledge but also to act as a centre of excellence in knowledge creation through research and training that connects with practice. Centre for Non-communicable diseases and nutrition, BRAC James P Grant School of Public health, BRAC University in partnership with Non Communicable Disease Control, Directorate General of Health Services, National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), Bangladesh Institute of Research and Rehabilitation in Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders (BIRDEM), Bangladesh University of Health Science (BUHS), BRAC, and Imperial College London is implementing a study titled " Understanding the patterns and determinants of health in South Asian people-South Asia Biobank". The objectives of this study are to a) Strengthen non-communicable diseases (NCD) surveillance systems in Bangladesh by establishing 30 surveillance sites across the country to quantify the burden of CVD and T2D, and their risk factors b) Collect and utilize biological samples for persuasion of epidemiological and genetic research c) Disseminate data to relevant stakeholders, include health service providers and policy makers to inform resource allocation and health system priorities. The government of Bangladesh is trying to establish a surveillance for NCDs which will be strengthened by this project. The study finding will help us to design target specific interventions to combat NCDs in Bangladesh. Moreover, it will help the policy makers to formulate pertinent policies related to NCDs.
∎ The study will recruit Medical Officers to support the surveillance teams. Details are stated below:
∎ Duration of Job:8 months

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Supervise data collection and diagnostic tests done by the medical technologists
∎ Review test reports (FBS, HbA1c, lipid profile, urinary albumin, urinary sodium, ECG, retinal photographs, spirometry)
∎ Provide necessary treatment or referral for study participants
∎ Counsel study participants on medication and lifestyle modifications for NCDs
∎ Maintain referral linkages with higher government health facilities
∎ Support research assistants and medical technologists
∎ Maintain equipment

Additional Requirements:
∎ One year of experience in research
∎ Experience in using MS Office and Excel
∎ Good communication skill both in Bengali and English
∎ Willing to work in rural and urban areas of Bangladesh

Salary:
∎ Tk. 60000 (Monthly)
∎ Commensurate with experience and qualitifcation

Compensation & Other Benefits:
∎ After completing the surveillance project, one medical officer will receive full scholarship and another medical officer will receive 50% scholarship for MPH course in BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University.
