Job Responsibilities:
∎ Design and utilize construction materials and the processing technology to produce those materials.
∎ Job duties include analyzing materials and data, conducting tests, troubleshooting, monitoring performance, ensuring quality control, and creating documentation.
∎ Responsible for developing new testing methods, training technicians and lab workers, maintaining inventories, and ordering supplies.
∎ Test soils or materials to determine the adequacy and strength of foundations, concrete, asphalt, or steel.
∎ Stay up to date about the standards of material implementations in the construction site.
∎ Provide technical advice to industrial or managerial personnel regarding design, construction, program modifications, or structural repairs. Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, or material stress factors to determine design specifications.
∎ Review plans for new products and make recommendations for selecting materials based on design objectives, such as heat resistance, strength, weight, and cost.
∎ Reviewing the contractor's progress at all times. Oversee the recording and regular updating of the progress of the works. Records are available to indicate the progress of the works at all stages of the contract. Monitoring the material incorporated in work, the materials stored at the site, and the contractor's manpower and equipment.
∎ Prepare budgets and proposals, write reports and analyze labor costs and ensure all projects remain within budget.
∎ Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.
∎ Consult with corporate executives and other engineering professionals as necessary to plan and assess new projects and their objectives.
∎ Mentor Civil Engineers and facilitate a holistic understanding of the scope and plan for projects.
