∎ Must have master's in Economics/Sociology/Gender Studies/Development Studies or other related subjects under the domain of Social Sciences from a reputed university. Having a foreign degree/ MPhil/ PhD will be an advantage.

Job Context:
∎ Centre for Research and Development (CRD) is a development consulting firm established in 2017 by a group of academicians and development professionals. With an initial base in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the CRD aims for gradual expansion in South Asia and East Asia region. In 2021, CRD has started its international operations with an international base in Ottawa, Canada. Since its inception, CRD has completed around 60 projects and provided services to Afghanistan, Ghana, India, Kenya, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh with different capacities. CRD offers services around M&E system design, research, assessment, evaluation and developing and facilitating tailor made training in the areas WASH, ICT4D, Inclusive Agriculture, DRR, Climate Change, Financial Inclusion, Social Inclusion, Livelihood, Women Empowerment and Gender Equality. With around 30 full time and 5 part time staff, CRD provides services on and around i) research & evaluation ii) training and technical assistance and iii) market and other surveys. Presently, CRD is leading several assignments (studies /evaluations) in Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and South Africa. In near future, CRD will provide more diversified services across Asia & Africa. ∎ CRD is looking for a dynamic and hardworking professional for the position of Manager- Research and Evaluation to supports its growing research team.
∎ Report To: Head of Research & Evaluation
∎ Position Type: Contractual (initially one year, extendable upon satisfactory performance)
∎ Job Location: Dhaka; with extended field trips as per project requirement.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Develop research objectives, questions, and hypotheses in collaboration with teams and stakeholders.
∎ Design research studies, including selecting appropriate methodologies, data collection tools, and sampling techniques.
∎ Develop research protocols and ensure ethical considerations and regulatory compliance.
∎ Conduct field research which may include surveys, interviews, observations, or focus groups.
∎ Oversee data collection processes, ensuring high-quality and accurate data.
∎ Conduct statistical analysis, data interpretation, and present findings using relevant software and tools.
∎ Monitor and evaluate the implementation of programs, projects, and interventions.
∎ Draft and finalize research/evaluation reports.
∎ Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align research and evaluation activities with organizational goals and priorities.
∎ Provide guidance and support to teams in developing research proposals and securing funding.
∎ Write and present papers/article for peer reviewed journals and national and international conferences.
∎ Stay updated on research methodologies, evaluation techniques, and best practices in the field.
∎ Any other work assigned by supervisor or management.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Relevant work experience of 5-7 years in research centre/development organization/academia/ as an independent researcher.
∎ Publications - at least 2 peer reviewed journal articles.
∎ Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team of 4-6 members.
∎ Proven experience in research design, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
∎ Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methods, statistical analysis, and data visualization.
∎ Strong knowledge of research ethics and data protection regulations.
∎ Excellent project management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively.
∎ Proficient in using statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R) and qualitative analysis tools (e.g., NVivo, ATLAS.ti).
∎ Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
∎ Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
∎ Experience in program evaluation and impact assessment is highly desirable.
∎ Familiar with Digital Data Collection Tools (Android Phone compatible Apps such as Kobo Toolbox, Survey CTO, AKVO Flow etc.)
Salary:
∎ The consolidated amount is BDT 50,000-60,000 (negotiable for more experienced and skilled candidate).
