Job Context:

∎ The Asian University for Women (AUW) located in Chittagong, Bangladesh is an independent international institution of higher learning for women from across Asia. The University is looking for a suitable candidate for the position of Librarian.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The aims of the post are to:
∎ Manage all aspects of the library service
∎ Collaboratively plan, develop, manage and assess the Library's collections, operations, services and facilities.
∎ Provide and develop innovative information resources in a service oriented environment.
∎ Further develop the Library as a collaborative learning environment and learning commons.
∎ Develop and implement strategies and infrastructure to manage, preserve and provide access to digital assets.
∎ assist students with the development of their research skills.
∎ manage relationships and work collaboratively with the Faculty.
∎ Deliver effective information literacy teaching.
∎ assist with the development of promotional activities.
∎ Position Particulars:
∎ Managing all aspects of the library service including budgets and resources.
∎ Responsibility for developing a library and information resources center supporting teaching, independent research and learning in the university.
∎ Ensuring that library services meet the needs of users.
∎ Developing IT facilities in the library.
∎ Promoting the library's resources to users.
∎ Carry out any other duties commensurate with the post that may be required by the line manager.
∎ Management of staff, including recruitment, training and supervisory duties.
∎ Liaising with academic staff, external organizations and suppliers.
∎ Ensuring that library services meet the needs of users.
∎ Selecting, developing, cataloguing and classifying library resources.
∎ Maintenance and development of on-line resources
Additional Requirements:
∎ Familiar with the use of online research databases.
∎ Excellent knowledge of MS Office.
∎ Proficiency in spoken and written English.
∎ Excellent presentation skills.
∎ Excellent organizational and communication skills.
∎ Aptitude for mentoring and tutoring students.
∎ Knowledge of digital library systems and services.
