Educational Requirements:
∎ Post-graduation in Library Science/ Library Information System or relevant discipline from a reputed University (no degree lower than 2nd class or equivalent).
Experience Requirements:
∎ At least 12 year(s)
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The potential candidate will work at the AIUB library located at the state-of-the-art campus in the heart of Dhaka. The key duties and responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:
∎ Ensure efficient and maximum use of the library resources in accordance with the existing policies, systems and procedures and develop new policies, systems and procedures as needed.
∎ Catalog and maintain the library materials including books, journals and other resources in correct order and keep track of all library materials.
∎ Loan library materials to the users and collect the returned materials as per procedure.
∎ Handle loans between libraries.
∎ Organize and reshelve returned items such as periodicals, books journals, papers etc.
∎ Handle the registration of new library cardholders and issue library cards.
∎ Sensitize the users about new arrivals, access to e-resources and how to use all such library resources.
∎ Responding to requests and answering questions from students, staff and faculties regarding the use of library facilities.
∎ Perform routine tasks such as answering phone calls, organizing files, correspondence and report preparations related to library.
∎ Use and maintain computer library databases to help locate library materials.
∎ Help plan and participate in special library events promoting the use of library resources.
∎ Proactively engage with the academics and students to advise on library materials for their courses and ensure quality and excellent library services.
∎ Formulate plans for the development activities of the library and supervise implementation of the plans once approved.
∎ Coordinates with the university library committee on the selection and procurement of library collections and resources.
∎ Establishes linkages with the national and international libraries for sharing/exchanging of library collections and resources.
∎ Remain updated and familiar with the computer-based system used in the AIUB library and the e-resources subscribed by the AIUB library.
∎ Any other tasks as assigned by the AIUB Management.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 12 years of experience as a librarian in academic/public library. Candidates with extensive experience of using "Library Information Management System" will be given preference.
