Educational Requirements:
∎ Bachelor in Engineering (BEngg) in Mechanical Engineering, Nautical Science
∎ Master in Mechanical Engineering/Nautical Science is highly preferred.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Teaching, Learning and Support:
∎ Undertake undergraduate teaching courses and supervision as appropriate.
∎ Design and deliver modules in Shipping and Maritime subjects (Theory & Practical), including preparing assessments and examinations, online teaching materials, tutorial support and associated administration.
∎ Teach, examine & train students in undergraduate Sessional/Practical/Workshop taking place in Maritime Laboratory.
∎ To be Module Convener for some of the modules, Advisors for some of the batches and to maintain and develop both the quality and appropriateness of the course materials and the curriculum.
∎ Continuously evaluate teaching content, delivery methods and assessment methods and make improvements.
∎ Provide intellectual and pastoral support to students.
∎ Take part in and contribute to staff development activities consistent with continuous professional development.
∎ Research:
∎ Plan, develop and conduct individual and/or collaborative research objectives, projects and proposals either as an individual or as part of the program.
∎ Contribute fully to the school research activities.
∎ To establish, develop and sustain an international reputation as a researcher through original quality work.
∎ Publish results of research through leading peer-reviewed international publications, and present or exhibit at national/ international conferences and other similar events in internationally recognized outputs.
∎ Actively seek funding from public and private sources to support research programmed with short, medium, and long-term goals.
∎ Supervise students in their Final Year Project/Thesis.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 22 years
∎ To support and comply with the University and Department teaching quality assurance standards and procedures
∎ Work closely with the Head of department for accreditation from regulatory bodies
∎ Take a role in the admission of students to undergraduate degrees. Respond to queries from staff and students (including applicants), providing information and advice and assisting in admissions.
∎ Prepare student handouts and handbooks.
