Job Context:
∎ Toxicology Society of Bangladesh (TSB) is the pre-eminent national professional organization dealing with poisoning and envenoming in Bangladesh. It was formally established in 2008 by a group of medical toxicologists with an aim to assemble interested people and actively involved in research on poisoning and envenoming over the preceding decades. Members are all clinician and focused on toxicology.

∎ The major responsibility of this position is to operate a liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) platform to for the quantitative analysis of drugs of abuse in urine samples received from residential detox facilities and counseling centers around the country. Knowledge of LC/MS assay development, assay validation, quantitative drug analysis, and correlation studies is a must. The work requires familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS), quality control procedures, troubleshooting problems, documentation of actions taken to correct problems, and adhering to strict turnaround time standards.
∎ Job purpose:
∎ To provide excellent data management for CCBOC & other research studies as applicable. Knowledge of LC/MS assay development, assay validation, quantitative drug analysis, and correlation studies using standard analytical techniques in compliance with UoE Laboratory`s Quality Assurance programs and Standard Operating Procedures. This person will coordinate with the sites for query resolutions as per the study requirement.
∎ Workplace: Department of Pharmacology, BSMMU
∎ Key Stakeholders:
∎ Chairman Department of Pharmacology, BSMMU. Principal Investigator (PI), CO-Principle Investigator, Senior Trial Manager, Site trial Coordinators, Research administrator logistics manager, Clinical Data Associate.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Reporting to Chairman Dept. of Pharmacology BSMMU and Principle Investigator (PI)
∎ Integration of LC/MS equipment with LIMS, printers, and other devices.
∎ Sample accessioning, barcoding, and tracking
∎ Sample preparation for LC/MS, including sample dilution, filtration, or concentration as needed
∎ All chemicals, reagents, calibrators, standards, supplies, and disposables needed for sample processing
∎ Proper storage of chemicals and disposal of waste chemicals
∎ Laboratory and personnel safety when operating LC/MS equipment
∎ Instrument calibration, review of calibration data, storage of data calibration printouts, and procedures for resolving failed calibrations
∎ Quality control, including QC for specific assays, review and filing QC results to LIS, and storage of QC printouts
∎ Procedure for handling samples exceeding instrument range or exceeding critical limits. Preparing and testing manual dilutions
∎ Handling, reviewing, and clearing pending logs
∎ Contacting LC/MS technical service to resolve problems if possible, or request on-site service
∎ Completion of written competency tests
∎ On-site training by Agilent field service engineer
∎ Daily, Weekly, Monthly maintenance procedures
∎ Using instrument error codes to resolve problems
∎ Answering phone calls and filing data
∎ Signing for and receiving shipments, supplies, samples, etc., as needed
∎ Shipping samples to reference or other laboratories as needed
∎ Assist Laboratory Manager with planning work schedules, meetings, and other events
∎ Requires extensive software, communication, customer relations, and internet research skills
∎ Ensuring data on requisition forms matches data on sample container.
∎ Manual data entry into spreadsheets
∎ Barcode scanning of samples into a Laboratory Information System
∎ Learn to use the Electronic Health Records system as it becomes available
∎ Physical, environmental, and electrical requirements for instrument location and operation, as well as names and functions of all instrument parts
