• Read and interpret shipbuilding drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Fabricate, fit, and assemble steel plates and structural components of ship hulls.
• Measure, mark, cut, bend, and shape steel plates according to drawings and required dimensions.
• Perform accurate fit-up and alignment of hull plates, frames, bulkheads, decks, stiffeners, and other structural components.
• Carry out tack welding and prepare joints for final welding by certified welders.
• Use gas cutting, plasma cutting, grinding, drilling, and other fabrication tools safely.
• Check dimensions, angles, alignment, gaps, and tolerances before welding and assembly.
• Install and align brackets, supports, frames, stiffeners, and other hull structures.
• Perform grinding, edge preparation, and surface preparation as required.
• Identify and rectify misalignment, dimensional errors, and fabrication defects.
• Work closely with welders, shipyard supervisors, QC inspectors, and other fabrication teams.
• Follow shipyard procedures, technical drawings, quality standards, and production schedules.
• Maintain tools and equipment and keep the work area clean and safe.
• Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.
• Complete assigned hull fabrication and assembly work within project deadlines while maintaining required quality standards.
